Chris Redfield will star in Resident Evil 7's free Not a Hero story expansion this spring, though he won't look like you remember him. Capcom's promising a "short scenario" with a different flavour to Ethan's adventure – it's probably safe to assume that this will be a full-on first-person shooter like the latter stages of the main game's campaign.
Here's what the publisher had to say: "Who or what is [Chris Redfield] chasing? Find out soon in this separate story." An interesting comment for sure, we have some theories with regards to the answer but we can't post them here for fear of spoiling everything. We're looking forward to learning more in the weeks to come.

Wonder how many rocks he will punch this time around!
CHHHHHRRRIIIIIISSSSSSSS!!!!
Can't wait.
I'm not convinced this is actually Chris, unless they're going with he lost 80 pounds of muscle and changed his skeletal structure. They've never said RE7 was a reboot, and the Chris Redfield in the upcoming Vendetta movie, which is supposed to exist within the same world, looks nothing like whoever this guy is.
"You take it!"
if he isn't doing this then it's not Chris
At least a lot of the post release content has a lot of variety compared to the main game.
He looks a lot like he does on the Gamecube remake, I'm glad they appear to have ditched the ridiculous version from 5 onwards. I'm more interesting in how and what capacity a certain other thing has returned
I'm not sure how to post a pic, but yeah, this can't be the real Chris. If you look up Resident Evil Vendetta, which takes place between 6 and 7, you can clearly see Chris maintains his appearance from 5 and 6. So yeah...this is is an imposter! Or Capcom poorly redesigning a character for no reason.
@RedMageLanakyn Hmm well they credit him as Chris Redfield at the end of Resi 7. Think they've done a decent job of making him look like a real character again lol.
I think I will buy this game when it has "game of the year" edition, there's just too many game this year.
@RedMageLanakyn Chris redfield character design has changed from resident evil 1-3, to 5-6 and 7. I like chris design on resident evil 1 compared to resident evil 5-6.
@kyleforrester87 @wiiware But why would they make him look the same in between 6 and 7, and then drastically change his look for 7? In vendetta, Chris is also wearing his BSAA gear from 5 and 6, and without spoiling anything, he's wearing some very different gear at the end of 7. I just think based on the ending it's more plausible someone is impersonating Redfield than for them to redo his looks.
@RedMageLanakyn He looks like a cartoon character in 5-6.. the character models are much more realistically proportioned in Resi 7 and his remodel is entirely within keeping of that style. There are some questions that need answering spoiler-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------why he's working with Umbrella and why is the Umbrella logo blue etc but I think that's definitely Chris!
@kyleforrester87 that's a very visible spoiler 😃 I want to know the answer to this too and why Capcom thinks it's funny to change the game for Madhouse, nearly gave me a heart attack back in the house after the garage fight
@kyleforrester87 I agree that he looks toonish in 5 and 6, and i would have zero problems accepting the RE7 version at all, if it weren't for the upcoming movie.
Vendetta takes place between 6 and 7, and is confirmed to be in the same game world. Chris retains his looks from 5 and 6 in the movie, so why would they completely remake his appearance in the game, especially when the movie isn't even out yet?
I know it's completely in the realm of reason for them to change his looks, to me it just seems kind of silly to maintain his look in one piece of media, and then redo it in another when they're all supposed to be connected in the same world.
Also, I guess I'm just hoping that Capcom wouldn't be so blatant about it, like "here's Chris, nevermind the redesign" and would throw in a twist or two after doing such a good job with RE7.
@carlos82 Aha yeah, sorry, spoiler tags are not working for some reason :S Sorry in advance anyone?! I've not tried Madhouse yet - my friend is still borrowing my copy @RedMageLanakyn I get what you're saying to be fair, but I just don't think they could have kept the original model in 7, despite what they are doing with Vendetta.
@kyleforrester87 Madhouse changes more than you'd expect, it's so much fun and tough
@carlos82 Was just speaking to someone about some of the other changes, sounds like it's definitely worth revisiting, cant wait!
Looking forward to getting some answers (hopefully).
I hope the GOTY edition will be "Checkpoints Free". And the guy looks enough Chris to me.
@b1ackjack umm it's Chris happy now
