The 'will they, won't they' saga surrounding Shenmue HD is becoming as drawn out as Ryo Hazuki's revenge, but SEGA Europe has raised hopes by registering a domain for the aforementioned compilation. According to the Who Is data, the publisher bought ShenmueHD.com back in September, perhaps suggesting that PlayStation 4 ports of Shenmue and Shenmue II could be right around the corner.

The company has indicated that it's interested in making the conversions happen, but pointed to licensing issues as a reason for the hold up. Of course, a domain registration doesn't really mean much in the grand scheme of things; SEGA Europe may merely have wanted to claim the URL before fans stump up for the address. Either way, we'd sincerely like this to happen – even if the games are looking very dated today.

I'd buy them in an instant.
As someone who missed out on these first time round, I'd happily buy a remaster, especially if they update the very old looking textures!
Please do. They are localizing Yakuza left and right, this is like Yakuza's father.
@Dodoo I think the problem will be more the voice overs! They are very dated.
Why didn't I buy a Dreamcast when I had the chance!
Whhhyyyy!?!
@Fandabidozi I'm asking that myself. Every DC game I've played I've enjoyed, so in retrospect I kinda wish I had one.
Please be true.
It's because I finally broke down and bought the originals, that's why this is happening.
I missed my Dreamcast for Shenmue until now
Dreams can be true!
Sure hope this happens. I'd love to experience these games ahead of Shenmue 3's release.
@get2sammyb thoe terrible voiceover are an essential part of Shenmue's charm, I hope they keep them and maybe allow us to listen to the japanese VO as well.
It's happening! Tears !
@Feena Oh don't get me wrong, I completely agree. I love everything about Shenmue. I just think some people playing them for the first time may be a little surprised that they're held in such high regard.
Absolutely, I only got to play a little bit of Shenmue from a friend, enjoyed what I played. So I definitely would love to play through them.
