Perception PS4 PlayStation 4 1

What if you were blind and your only means of "seeing" was via echolocation? You probably wouldn't head to a haunted house, where any noise stands the chance of attracting a dark presence, right? That's the mistake poor Cassie makes in Perception, an intriguing survival horror coming to PlayStation 4 from ex-BioShock and Dead Space veterans.

The game takes place in a mansion named Echo Bluff which harbours some dark secrets. The disabled protagonist may have lost her sight, but she's able to perceive her surroundings by tapping a cane on the ground. Of course, she needs to weigh her need to visualise her surroundings against the reality that any noise she makes will attract nasties. Cool concept.

"Once spotted, your only hope is to run, hide, and pray that you're not found," creative director Bill Gardner wrote on the PlayStation Blog. "Cassie can also use the ambient sounds of the house to her advantage, by throwing objects like alarm clocks to create 'sound bombs' that can distract her enemies."

There's no date just yet, but we're really drawn to the concept of this one, even if it doesn't really make for the most attractive art style that we've ever seen.
