Y'know, the more we see of it, the more we think Nioh's got a really nice art style. Koei Tecmo's action role-playing game puts players in the shoes of William, who arrives in feudal Japan at a time when a lot of blood was being spilled in the name of unification. In Nioh's alternate history, the bloodshed has given rise to spirits - some of which are happy to try and tear Will limb from limb, and there are plenty of these supernatural beings present in the screenshots that we've embedded.

Some of the most famous samurai of the time also put in an appearance. You can spy both Tadakatsu Honda and Naomasa Ii in the shots - two especially revered warriors who helped Ieyasu Tokugawa unite Japan in the 1600s. If you're into Japanese history, you'll more than likely get a kick out of seeing how Nioh handles things.

History lessons aside, the game's looking great. We're loving the enemy designs, and if the combat can hold up across the whole release, we reckon the PlayStation 4's got a bit of a darling on its hands. Nioh's due out next month, on the 9th February.
