It feels like we've been waiting an eternity, but it's finally here: actual, proper gameplay of Mass Effect: Andromeda. Revealed right near the end of Geoff Keighley's The Game Awards broadcast, the five minute trailer that we've embedded above shows off a load of combat, some dialogue, and a touch space exploration.
So, how does it look? Well, the good news is that it definitely has that Mass Effect feel. The alien environments in particular look great, although we're not surprised to see that the facial animations are still a bit iffy. Meanwhile, the combat certainly looks like an evolution of what we've come to expect from the series, even if it does seem to be a little on the stiff side.
Slight gripes aside, we're just glad that we've finally been shown how the game plays. Andromeda is due out early next year, but are you excited? Conquer an unknown galaxy in the comments section below.

Finally interested in this game now. Looks to be a proper continuation of the series.
Looks amazing.
Meh. Too actiony looking for my tastes.
I'll wait for reviews and a price drop.
Can not wait!!
Looks like Mass Effect. Can't wait.
At the moment this is this is the only game of interest which I will get next year.
DA:I in space! That's exactly what I want.
But I have to be the toxic to say this: man, that main character is one ugly face. I hope we can customise her or choose a prettier prefix...
Shhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiii....
Just blew my hype load.
I rolled my eyes when he said you have to craft.
so i'm guessing that as you can't import you ME OT saves this follows the Light ending of ME3 the one where Commander Shepard sacrificed himself and became a Reaper
i'm ok with this
This looks pretty great. Any idea if we're stuck in he classes like the other one? I'd really like an open ability tree to be able to mix and match. The powers look great in this one.
@ztpayne7 Ability tree is open as far as I know, with specialisations opening up as you progress.
@FullbringIchigo I don't know exactly how many but I know this is like a 100 years after the OT
Animations still a bit wonky. And the resource collecting looks like a chore (DA:I grinding again).
Day one!
I really, really want to get excited for this. I loved the trilogy, and even came to terms with casey hudson's broken promises and the bad ending. However, since the trilogy there has been a lot of shuffling, departures, and more "promises" from key staff members. DAI was, for the most part, a giant shopping list simulator. I'm going to hold out on this one until i see some actual reviews and a couple hours of gameplay i think.
Looking better than the last time but more polish is obviously needed.
Calling it "next gen" is just so last gen though.
@ShogunRok great hope so. I loved this series and am excited for andromeda.
Shame the stiff animations havent moved on much.. I was hoping for something a little more fluid this time around. The environments look great though.
