Activision appears to have taken Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare's sales woes to heart, as it's announced that the game will be temporarily going free-to-play on the PlayStation 4 between 15th December and 20th December. You won't get the full experience during the period, but you will be able to sample all three modes: campaign, multiplayer, and co-op.
The single player will be limited to two story missions, while multiplayer and co-op will be tied to level caps of 15 and three respectively. Still, if you decide to upgrade, you'll be able to pull your progress into the full game. And the way the price is plunging on the title, it'll probably only cost you 50p or so by the time the Boxing Day sales arrive.

naaaa... still think we have titanfall 2 for the "futuristic shooter of the year"
Its worth trying - especially if you liked BO3. The campaign is certainly more cohesive and Zombies is a lot of fun. The MP isn't bad but I do think BO3 just has the edge. The full game has a lot of content.
Is it actually doing that badly that this is needed? I had noticed that the price had dropped quite a bit very quickly. I tried the VR mission which was fun but pretty short and redundant overall.
It's number one in the UK charts above even Fifa, so it can't be all that bad. Black Ops 3 was £20 on Amazon also around this time last year (can't remember if it was just before or after Christmas) so price drops are also not new to the franchise. I'd take it more as a demo release to drum up a few more sales before Christmas and to put it in to people's mind as an option for any Christmas money they might get.
Having said that I can't see a series that has released new iterations every year for what seems like forever not to be suffering from people having series fatigue from it. No amount of marketing is going to help with that though, only true innovation will.
I havent properly engaged in a call of duty in its etirety since Black Ops 2, which was alright campaign wise.
Oh and I liked the Ghosts campaign but didnt touch any other mode.
So I have no idea if this is a step forward but considering all the flak its been getting, I would guess not.
@Dichotomy charts are done on overall sales rather than quality, and even with a 49% drop its still outselling most other games.
But youre right if its still number one, it must stillbe selling a decent margin.
Series fatigue, I cant even be bothered for free. Titanfall 2 over Christmas though, Hell yeah!
I still haven't got round to playing my copy of Advanced Warfare yet, so by the time I play Infinite Warfare they'll probably be up to Call of Duty: Dinosaur Warfare or something.
@johncalmc We can always hope.
I've got Titanfall 2 and Battlefield 1 for my shooter fix. Plus both of these games, in my opinion, are better than any COD I've ever played.
I thought the headline was saying they were straight up giving the game away, like PvZ:GW at first PSX.
I would never bother downloading a massive game just to demo it, PSN can't handle it.
This program might cause a PSN outage and prevent people from BUYING games.
I own the full game and still won't play it I doubt a free couple of hours will entice me more.
I remember MW2 still being 60euro a year and a half after release (in some physical shops)..
@johncalmc Nah at the rate they are going, there won't be a CoD by then.
Not for me this time round, will defo be buying the remaster when it's sold seperately for £30 though no more or i'll never play it.
@Tasuki I know that we're all doom and gloom over Call of Duty right now, and they're obviously a bit sour about the sales of Infinite Warfare, but the sales are only poor in comparison to other Call of Duty games. In comparison to games that aren't Call of Duty, Infinite Warfare has been a hit.
Basically, what I'm saying is, I'm hoping we get a Dinosaur Warfare one day.
@johncalmc @xMEADx This hasn't anything too do with doom and gloom on a series as a whole. The latest stunt Activision has pulled has upsetted the CoD community big time. Supply drops in MWR. The problem isn't that IW was a space combat shooter it's the fact that Activision doesn't listen to its fans at all. And sooner or later unless Activision gets their head out of their rears and listen to the fans and players it won't be around.
No thanks. I'll keep playing TF2. It IS an excellent game.
Read so many bad reviews of the mulitplayer that I will give this one a miss.
I've been on a CoD binge lately playing the new gen ones I wasn't able to play before getting my PS4. I've really enjoyed this one so far. Of course, I love anything to do with space and our solar system, and this game allows us to visit actual locations in our system. That's really cool to me.
Campaign is definitely worth playing. I just wonder if years from now this one will still be hated by fans.
Not good enough. Screw Actvision and COD
COD is going to the same place Tony Hawks and guitar hero went
It seems CoD has had it's chips
(well, someone had to say it)
@get2sammyb
Do you have clue what time this will be available to download? I'm really curious about the campaign 😂
