With the rumour mill in full swing, we've been hearing a lot of crazy whispers over the last week or so as we near Sony's PlayStation Experience 2016 event. One rumour that we decided was worth reporting on just a few days ago, Marvel vs. Capcom 4 will supposedly show up at the PlayStation maker's show - and now Polygon is backing it to happen.
"Multiple sources tell Polygon that Marvel vs. Capcom 4 is currently in development and slated for release sometime in 2017," writes the publication. As mentioned above, the fighter will apparently be revealed at PSX, which begins on the 3rd December.
With a site like Polygon putting its weight behind the rumours, we're inclined to think that this is indeed the real deal. Would you be happy with an announcement? Pick out your ultimate team in the comments section below.

We should discuss what ways they are going to try to destroy the game. Season Pass? No single player? Timed exclusive? I can't help but think this won't go smoothly.
@rjejr
No mutants. Believe it.
@Punished_Boss_84 i will riot... what is a MvsC game without Wolverine... i will berserker claw the crap out of every single developer if i cant use him
@Lechronn Watch the language please
No Single Player
Timed Exclusive
Season Passes
Multiple Versions
The possibilities with Capcom!
It makes you wonder if Sony has a bigger say in this, after all they allowed Spiderman to be on the MCU then lo and behold a PS4 exclusive Spiderman game is coming, maybe throw in a MVC4 too to sweeten the deal.
I'm starting to get my hopes up here. Guess we will see what happens on Dec 3rd.
@rjejr Feel free to correct me, but while Capcom may screw up Street Fighter, I've felt they usually do a good job handling MvC. The only snafu I can name was losing the rights to make the games, resulting in all the titles being de-listed from PSN and XBLA. Even then I'm not really sure that it was their fault (though it still sucked).
@DerMeister It was really meant as a dig at the industry, everything is fresh in my mind w/ FXV releasing tomorrow and SFV recently - my kid asked for SF4 on PS3 for Christmas b/c he heard about all the bad SFV stuff.
@Punished_Boss_84 Does Deadpool count?
@DLB3 Is it OK if I hate the industry now?
@rjejr
Wish I could say I think this will be a bounce back after SF V, but you're right, the question is how they will inevitably screw this up. I have a hard time believing it could be worse than what they did with Street Fighter but Capcom never lets me down when it comes to doing something even worse than what came before. My guess is a $40 season pass for 3 characters and no single player modes at launch.
@Gamer83 I feel like I compleltey derailed another thread. I need to go back to being post #17 or so.
@rjejr Well, don't plant bad trees if you don't want bad apples.
To be honest though, the game's probably not gonna happen. I say that with full knowledge I'll probably eat my words later, but if Capcom doesn't have the licence again (or whatever other clearance needed) I can't see it happening.
@Gamer83 Again, I'll say Capcom so far has handled MvC well enough, barring the licence thing. Of course that could just mean it's next in line for sabotage, because the industry is evil and cruel and sad. But I'd like to be more optimistic about it, despite reason not to be.
At the very least, the game like likely still be fun to play, because Capcom somehow still manages that despite it's business failures.
Absolutely loved Marvel vs Capcom 3 on PS3 and ultimate m v c on vita. Would love this to be true!
@DerMeister
I'll give you the game could be fun, Street Fighter V actually has phenomenal gameplay and that's always the most important thing, the problem is there is a complete lack of content and that's important too.
No X-Men? That sucks. Waiting for the reveal.
I just don't trust capcom anymore after street fighter v, if they have season pass for this game character etc I think I'll buy the complete edition or wait for discount after the game's launch. I'll keep myself busy with all the rpg like world of final fantasy, final fantasy xv (my deluxe copy arrive tomorrow ) and persona 5 next year. I can wait for a loong time...
needs to have Stan Lee as a playable character
Considering how Capcom have messed up SFV I don't hold much hope.
I wouldn't be surprised if they announce marvel vs capcom 4 at psx and as a nice bonus they will release marvel vs capcom 2 on ps4 the day of the announcement (the ps2 version, maybe even mvc1 and x-men vs street fighter)
While I love MvC2 the third one is very disappointing and after play SFV I can see how messy the gameplay in MVC3 is.
If we're getting another MvC then we gotta petition capcom to add Asura (and all the relevant wrath that comes with him of course)
@Gamer83 I know, that's completely right. SFV really really messed up the single player at launch. However, with the very overwhelming negative response to that, I'm almost willing to believe that they won't repeat that mistake. The only way they could miss that is by being deaf. Hopefully they're not when it comes to this game, if it happens.
My hopes;
December 3rd - MvC4 is announced, and then it is announced that MvC 1 & 2 will be rereleasing on the PS4 sometime next month.
@DerMeister
Last time I saw UMvC3 released a few months after the original and that wasnt very well received.
I am not expecting much here either.
