New Hot Shots Golf looks much better these days. The arcade sports title, which has been in development for a while, got a new trailer during Sony's TGS 2016 press conference, and in addition to the traditional click-click-click action, we also got a glimpse of some new character models, which look much better than those employed in previous trailers.
In addition to the golfing action, you'll be partaking in other activities, like buggy racing and even swimming. It looks really good, but with a Summer 2017 release date attached, it's still quite far away.

Bah.
Even tho every Gen these games drive me nuts(on the later courses) I LOVE Everybody's Golf It should be Fun er sometimes
next summer?!?.. i was expecting this reasonably soon, not in another 9+ months. sony needs to get a better grip on its studios and development partners, games are taking way too long these days... this fixation on power and pixels will backfire eventually.. delay after delay for 'extra polish'.
Pleased its coming as love the previous iteration on Vita, but if its nine months or so away for Japan, then we will be lucky to see Christmas 2017....
Ship may have sailed by then...
@leucocyte It's not just Sony, though β this is literally the predicament of the entire industry. You only need to look at this site to see people complaining about "indie crap" constantly, but then also complaining that the AAA titles (which are super expensive and very hard to make) take too long to make.
@get2sammyb
Compared to Microsoft, Sony's release schedule has arguably been the worst maintained.....how long ago was a Hot Shots announced for the PS4? C'mom now.
I don't think they have had one fall release schedule go to plan since the PS4 launched, which regardless of your notion on the importance of those months, is pretty pathetic.
Day one, can't resist some Everybody's Golf I still play it on Vita.
I wonder who will be the playstation guests (or am I thinking of another game....?)
Everybodys Golf.
One of the most addictive games I have ever played.
An RPG full of mini games.
Clap Hanz
Love this series. I'm in...
@sub12 How long ago were Scalebound and Crackdown 3 announced? Earlier than Hot Shots Golf, let me tell thee.
I understand and agree with the criticisms, and I want this game now, but it's pretty clear that this gen is incredibly difficult for all publishers. Sony may well be the worst (or one of the worst) offenders, but practically every publisher is guilty to some extent.
I agree, though, clearly this was announced too early, and the huge sweeping changes to the art style suggest that this probably went back to the drawing board to some degree between its announcement and now.
Can't wait for this game. Looks a lot better now, too.
@sub12 The trouble with Microsoft is they may release their games on time but they more often then not prove to be unremarkable and barely get mentioned again on end of year lists. Maybe they could do with holding some back so they can reach their potential.
@get2sammyb - i never meant to imply that it was only sony that had this problem, and agree the industry in general is heading this way (deep down?!), but sony's first party stuff has yet to hit to single deadline, bar the few games that did manage to meet the PS4 launch. GT Sport announced in 2015 with a beta for early 2016 - no beta materialised, then release announced for Nov 2016, then delayed to some undetermined date in 2017. (though polyphony has plenty of history with delays). Horizon, scheduled for autumn 2016, now in March 2017 (assuming no more delay for extra 4K polish). the release of the last guardian is a long running saga.. how long ago was media molecule's dreams announced? it appears and then disappears from conferences. how many delays for uncharted 4 from the usually reliable naughty dog?. by the time they've finished the single player dlc, the ship may have long sailed on it. sony's first party 'holiday' schedule has been pretty abysmal for the last three years... though i'd wager a lot of that has to do with a reluctance to compete against the big mega franchises, and possibly the likes of bloodborne, would sell better in that feb-may period.
@adf86 the trouble with microsoft is they tend to focus most of their efforts in one short timeframe and milking its IPs. forza and gears of war are both releasing in the busy Q4, and they have stuff to bundle for the important holiday sales, etc. but apart from the fairly naff quantum break, the rest of the year is barren.
Nice shot!
I hope to play it soon.
@get2sammyb ... I don't really mind when.. as long as it comes, I struggle with all the games I have already on steam and ps ... an excuse to play some I already own would be welcome π
