It's been a long, long wait, but Titanfall will finally make its PlayStation 4 bow this weekend, as Respawn Entertainment launches Titanfall 2's open multiplayer beta. The sample period will stretch from 19th August through 21st August, and then there'll be a second stress test from 26th August to 28th August.
Initially there'll be two modes and maps for you to try: Bounty Hunt and Pilots vs. Pilots. Amped Hardpoint will be added in the second beta period – a twist on the original Hardpoint which will allow the defending team to double its score. Maps in the beta will include Boomtown, which is set in a secret underground facility, as well the river-split Homestead. Forward Base Kodai will then be added for the second weekend.
Those who download the beta will also be able to try out two new Titans: Ion and Scorch. There'll be plenty of pilot abilities for you to test out, too. Lots to stick your teeth into, then – and EA ain't even making you pre-order. Check out the trailer embedded above, and let us know if you're up for the fight in the comments section.

I'll be there
Happy to give this ago, help me decide if I like the idea or not
Cool , look forward to trying this. Never had an Xbox and heard the original was pretty decent. If it's half good I'll get it for £20 in a year or so.
I have not played the first game but what did people think of it? What game can you compare it to that has been on PS3 or PS4?
Whaaaat...! Nice! Will it require PS Plus (cancelled my subscription a couple months ago...don't really miss it)? I'm guessing it will, but hoping it won't.
Smart move ea was not going get this but will try beta which might change my mind
@dryrain When it first released, I hated it. I thought it was a twitchy shooter like Call of Duty (first to shoot wins) except way worse because now you can attack from all angles, plus there's a "smart pistol" that locks-on to enemy players. Then you have titans shooting rockets at you while you scramble around on foot. Ugh, I died constantly and absolutely hated it. I think I killed like 4 players in 8 hours of playing the beta.
However, I came back a couple months later and it was a BLAST...everyone left playing the game wasn't that great (either that or it finally started to click with me), and I really enjoyed the parkour, map design, and gunplay. Honestly, I'd say it's most like Call of Duty, no questions. Best thing is to try it for yourself!
I'll try it, but I'm more into EA other shooter .
I can't get on the ps store until I get home, but does anybody know if you can pre-download it like similar previous betas?
Might look into it. Honestly I am tired of futuristic FPS games. I am looking more forward to the boots to the ground combat of Battlefield 1 and MWRM more.
I'm really not sure whether to get Mirror's Edge or Titanfall 2... I have seen lots of gameplay videos for both and I still can't decide.
@SPGFan34 They're completely different. Personally I don't recommend Mirror's Edge Catalyst at all. It was really boring. I played 4 hours and was already half done with the game. But I had no desire to continue. Ended up selling it the same day I bought it.
I did love the visuals though.
@SPGFan34 I played Mirrors Edge and really enjoyed it the parkour works really well. So much fun running, jumping, swinging around the city. There is a lot to do once you get past the main storyline with many side quests, speed runs and unlocking and collecting items. Still playing it now definate reccomendation.
@sketchturner @dryrain Thank You for the comments.
On the one hand, I understand Mirror's Edge is a fresh option as opposed to just another FPS like Titanfall. I also like how it is more driven by narrative than Titanfall and will have a longer and more well produced story mode. However, I have read mediocre reviews for it and I am not so keen on the visual quality of the game.
On the other hand, I don't actually have any FPS games on my PS4 and I have been wanting a decent one for a while. I also.understand it will be a newer game than Mirror's Edge and that it will have a larger player base as well as having a decent campaign. However, I don't usually enjoy multiplayer gaming so much and it seems to be less fresh than Mirror's Edge.
Definitely playing this beta
I mighty try it out. My love of mecha always kept me from fully dismissing this franchise.
Titanfall was a really good FPS i believe Titanfall 2 single player is really good from people thats played it (PS3trophies.Org), i believe MP will have a lot unlocks something the first one suffered from. So looking forwards to trying out 2, i think 2 could do very well.
