Final Fantasy XV Will Have Even More DLC Outside of the Season Pass

as long as the DLC is good i'm ok with it

if i enjoy a game, i'm always up for new content

I really don't see anything wrong with wanting to expand on a game after release and encourage people to come back to the game.

So what if they might just be DLC costumes, are they compulsory? No. If people want to buy that, let them be.

I just find it absolutely crazy how much flak Square gets with Final Fantasy when plenty of other developers do the same thing and no one complains, like not including a season pass in a collector's edition (Uncharted, Dark Souls, The Witcher all had collector's edition without including their season pass and no one cared). Even Square used to add more content to their games after release before DLC was even a thing through re-releases (Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Other FF entries like X including Dark Aeons etc.)

Feel square should probably just let the game do the talking now. I can't help but feel that stuff like this is creating such a negative vibe around the game, that it might put people off who would otherwise be genuinely interested. I trust square to deliver a complete and quality product on this (on the base game) and dont doubt that the dlc referred to will be costumes or fan service weapons from previous titles (like zidanes mage masher, lightnings sword already available as pre order dlc - so i cant believe squalls gun blade or clouds buster sword wont get sold separately down the line), car skins etc, but if they are not sure what content is, hold off announcing it until you do. It just upsets people.

@Rob_230 This. They are totally overselling the game at this point.

I rarely buy DLC for campaign based games, and certainly don't intend to buy any for FF15. Even if I did, I'd be quite wary of how they appear to be handling this. It has cash grab written all over it.

Also via kotetsu he's said that the second half of the game is linear (I assume using the same argument that 13 did to keep the story on pace). I enjoyed 13, really, but fml.

For me, 12 is still the best balance. Yes a lot of the early stuff was possible cos of Dustia, but at least we could play the way we wanted from the get go. How hard can it be?!

@Drawfull I just noticed that as well, first half is open world, 2nd half is linear. That could be good - maybe 2ND half is ona spaceship? -or it could be bad with invisible walls popping up everywhere for no reason.

Pre-ordered this January, I think I need to cancel it now, it's just getting to be all too much.Maybe PS5 will have the definitive version, I'm just fed up. How does he not know so much for a game they've already finished and they are just waiting on the patch too release it? They should just go ahead and make it free-to-start at this point, sell the whole thing piecemeal.

Oh my god, what are they going to do to the episodic FF7 remake? I can't even begin to imagine what they'll do to that one.

@rjejr I still have my pre-order and I think I'll keep it. But honestly it looks poor. The 50 minute vid from last week at least showed some new stuff (I think waitish mode will make me enjoy it more), but the VII Remake... Ugh, I'm dreading it. Still that's been discussed to death. XII HD looks OK but then they've tweaked the RNG. I liked the 1:1000 Zodiac Spear (not so much the 1:10000 stuff in IZJS), cos I like the JRPG grind, but. Meh. They know I'll buy 'em all.

Yeah, I don't mind them milking the series, I'll buy the games, but it's the milking of all the DLC and season pass stuff that's really starting to get on my nerves, coupled w/ the delay.

I must have more copies of the first 6 games than SE. Every format, every time. Sucker here.

The DLC stuff prior to this game wasn't too bad imo (XIII-2, bought the lot), but they do seem to be milking it now.

Probably won't be more than costumes, beginning weapons that are slightly better and money. Sounds like story dlc is in season pass. So, I'll keep my preorder, but doubt I'll get any of the extra dlc anytime soon. Maybe a costume or 2, if they're better looking than original outfits.

Ugh.

I hope they keep stuff like this out of DQXI.

You can buy the Season Pass right now. We wont tell you whats in it.

Oh and it wont even includes all the DLC, thats in Season Pass #2 sorry.

@Kurome I think the problem people are having is if the season pass content is predominantly costumes and fluff with a little story thrown in then a big expansion comes which is not included. But all we can really do is take a wait and see approach. I personally hate seasons passes for this reason you never know what you're paying for.

ugh modern gaming is so bad. And of course there are already the apologists and people saying only Square gets shat on because of DLC practices... oh man some of you need to get your head checked.
