Square Enix is going insane at the moment, dropping trailers, release dates, and announcements like it's in a rush. And there'll be no let up tomorrow, as it's teased a new Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue trailer. The promo will go live tomorrow at 21:00PM Japan time, and promises to include new material.
For those out of the loop, this PlayStation 4 exclusive compilation includes a high-definition remaster of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, as well as two brand new pieces of content. It's tentatively scheduled for a 2016 release, so we assume that we'll get a launch date for the package tomorrow as well.

2.8? Even the titles of these games are confusing.
Oh so that's what this is... thanks, now I'm interested.
Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to slap the person that invented the Kindom Hearts naming convension round the face with a wet fish.
@LieutenantFatman It's pretty hard to keep track of, for sure.
The link to Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop just links to Nintendo Life.
@sketchturner I'm too busy to get the direct pages, sorry!
::Grumbles and throws money at them::
I've compeltley lost track of the KH remakes. And I'm not even joking.
I am seeing Zelda comparisons though, Wii U gets WW HD and TP HD while we wait for the Zelda game that never shows. The more I hear about older KH games the further KH3 seems away.
@glassmusic that is me
I played the very first game cuz it had a title that was easy to understand..Kingdom Hearts?now I'm just confused.
Hope we finally get to see Aqua's face rendered in the new engine
I wanna try to enter in this series, but where do I begin? 2.8 Remaster HD FINAL CHAPTER PROLOGUE? What the hell.
@Utena-mobile Well that might explain why KH was 1 of my favorite games on PS2, I didn't really like KH2, I missed all the other ones. Maybe before KH3 on PS5 in 2020 I'll try to sort it all out and play them all. In order.
@LieutenantFatman How about kingdom hearts 358/2 days
@DualWielding didn't we already see that in a previous trailer?
@Frank90 Start with Kingdom Hearts 1 - which is playable on ps2 or ps3 (1.5 remix). I'd skip the other games on the 1.5 remix. Next, play Kingdom Hearts 2, which is on the 2.5 remix. If you'd like, you can also play Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, which is also on the 2.5 remix. It is a prequel, but has a lot of story information that will be important for the remainder the series. Finally, and I haven't played this one yet, there is KH: Dream Drop Distance which was originally on the 3DS (hence the 3 "D"'s in the name). That takes place directly after KH2 and is apparently pretty important to the story. That will be in the new 2.8 remix. You can pretty much skip the rest.
@ztpayne7 no, we've seen only shots of her back so far
@DualWielding @ztpayne7 yep I hope for a face render too and hopefully a release date because it does come out this year
@LieutenantFatman What's so confusing about it? It contains DDD, which takes place after KH2. And then there's the new prologue game that takes place before 3. Hence why it's called 2.8.
2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. Square sure is getting creative with naming Kingdom Hearts releases.
First things first, series spoiler alert for KH through DDD. (I think he tries to announce roughly which game he's focusing on if you only want to watch part but still, warning is there now)

That video there is one I saw awhile back. All told, the guy does a good job keeping the timeline organized. (And if I recall correctly, he points out some discrepancies with it too)
Seeing as how there's seven games in the series, it may prove useful to have a refresher on the story in 20 minutes so players don't have to go through them all at once. (~50hours a game x 7 = ~350hours to get the full story, I think it may be a bit useful...)
Oh, game order, story-wise: [Birth by Sleep] [KH1] [358/2 first half] [Chain of Memories] [358/2 second half] [KH2] [Re: Coded] [Dream Drop Distance]
All other games are remakes, remasters, etc. of whatever they're named after. To my knowledge, there aren't any important scenes missing from the non-remastered versions, at least concerning the overarching story.
The upcoming Aqua-playable game releasing on the 2.8 disc is... unknown to me (I may simply be forgetting it) on the timeline, but I presume it to be before [KH3].
@crystalorbie the upcoming Aqua game (kingdom hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep which is included in the 2.8 collection) takes place right after secret ending of Birth by Sleep but we won't know it's place on the timeline until after playing the game because it's assumed that time moves different in the realm of darkness than outside it (so I assume it'll cover events that spam several years in regular series timeline even though it'll be only a few days from Aqua's perspective)
@DualWielding, that makes sense, so thank you very much.
@Draythedestroyer Stefan? Sorry, your sentence reminded me of someone from work.
@DualWielding @crystalorbie its also been said tat the game will be the lent of a K2 world so around 1-3 ours seems pretty reasonable
Are KH 1+2 HD coming to ps4? Would like to play them but don't have a ps3
