One of the biggest announcements during last night's Sony E3 2016 press conference is that Insomniac Games is making a Spider-Man game exclusively for the PlayStation 4. The title defies all expected market realities in many ways: Insomniac Games – an independent studio – is working with Sony – a platform holder – to create an exclusive game based on Marvel's uber-popular property. But the license holder seems stoked about the "dream team" that it's assembled.
"Insomniac is a perfect match for Spider-Man because not only are they world class game developers that make phenomenal story-driven experiences, but they also craft games bursting with personality, humour, and most importantly: fun – just like Spidey," wrote Marvel Games creative director Bill Rosemann.
On the subject of the PS4, he added: "The PS4 is one of the most exciting gaming platforms ever! But not only [has Sony] created a great gaming console, they also have an amazing line-up of first-party titles and a community of the most passionate players that we are thrilled to join." He certainly seems pretty stoked.
Rosemann concluded that all parties are committed to collaborating on one of the greatest Spider-Man games ever made. "This all-new Spider-Man game and our partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment and Insomniac is a direct result of our wholehearted dedication to creating the best Marvel games the world has ever seen," he beamed. Given the success that Warner Bros has had with Batman, it's nice to see Marvel finally taking games seriously.

In my opinion this was the real MEGATON out of Sony's conference.
My only criticism is that Spider-Man chest logo!! Hopefully that will get a make-over or it could be just an 'early' phase in the story - a part where Peter Parker's costume is in the early phase of design...

I agree. Part of the surprise though was Insomniac taking the reigns. Sucker Punch seemed so obvious but when you think about Insomniac is a brilliant choice.

although i'm not sure about the logo, the design is fine but the white just stands out WAY too much, think the traditional black would have been better

Idiots. What really p*sses me off is Insomniac made a great Xbox One exclusive in Sunset Overdrive which these ingrates ignored entirely.
It's made by Insomniac so no worries here, a quality Spiderman game to rival Batman is finally coming.

It will probably have tons of swappable costume. It just looks like they nailed the spiderman web swing ,it looks fun.

This announcement really took me by surprise and absolutely love the look of it. Loving Spidey's new costume, too! High hopes for this!
I think the costume was done to avoid brand confusion with the old Sony Amazing Spiderman movies and the new MCU version that debuted in Civil War. This way it is clear it is its own IP, like the Batman Arkham games.
Still, if this has the freedom of Spiderman 2 with great characters and the power of PS4, this will be awesome sauce.
As long as we see the return of pizza delivery missions, this game will do just fine.
It does look good, hopefully we'll see more superhero games come out now. I'd love a Mass Effect style Guardians of the Galaxy game.
I think this will be the game to make me get a PS4. Insomniac is super talented and their work on Sunset Overdrive was amazing. I actually got a Xbox One because of that game and I think history is about to repeat. On the plus side, I'll get to decide if I want the regular PS4 or Neo.
I actually really like the design which is good for me as I always play a game with default skins/options. Also i've seen it around the interwebs (haha!) that should this do well it could lead to a bunch of superhero exclusive games. Now that would be fun! I salivate at the thought of reading fanboy comments about which exclusive superhero is better .
Batman would stay multiplat of course as he's the ultimate badass

@Rudy_Manchego Marvel made quite a few changes with Civil War suit as well because they wanted to set it apart from Sony's Spidey movies but Insomniac Games went a tad bit overboard with theirs, imo.lol Plus, it's not only the white insignia, the lines on the shoulders makes Spidey look like his carrying a backpack.
Anyways, its great news that @Quintumply said that there'll be unlockable costumes and I'm still rather looking forward to this game.
Finally spiderman is being developed by a world class studio! All previous spidey games sit under the category 'meh'. Onto another subject but by the same studio... an epic reboot of resistance please with huge battles across worlds and space, massive set pieces, motion and geegantic army battles and weapons!!!

This isn't really surprising that this is a PS4 exclusive. Sony owns the exclusive movie rights to Spider-Man. For Captain America Civil War they made a deal with Marvel(aka Disney) to allow Spider-Man to appear in that movie. I am sure this is part of a that deal where Spidey shows up only on Sonys platform Quid pro quo. Regardless, the game looks great and I very much look forward to playing it.
Insomniac signature is the creative & wide range of weapons.
I hope we have multiple costumes with different abilities...
