As predicted, Final Fantasy XV turned up at Microsoft's E3 2016 press conference - but we're not convinced that it was a good idea to come along at all. The brief boss fight that Square Enix brought to the show looked completely unfinished, disastrously awkward, and not at all fun to play.
For months now, people have been questioning the overall quality of the game, with the recently released Platinum Demo failing to impress many - but this new footage is honestly the worst that we've seen of the upcoming release so far, to the point where we're now genuinely concerned about the finished product.
We sincerely hope that tonight's Active Time Report rekindles our spirits, because this has been a real eye-opener.

to be fair i think it was the guy playing it, he didn't do it very well
also it could have something to do with it running on the XB1
@FullbringIchigo It looked horribly similar to the existing demos, which, to be totally fair, are a bit of a nightmare to control. Seriously worried about it.
Was it just me or was the framerate god awful at most times?
It was nice
I've been concerned about performance since the original demo that came with Type-0. I'm not a framerate snob, but I do at least want it to be stable.
lol doesnt look great does it
This game is a trainwreck
@ShogunRok there is still 3 months so plenty of time to clean it up
Guess the Kingsglaive video said it best - been working on that MOVIE for 3 years.
And I thought it looked fine for an FF game. Story first, graphics 2nd - as long as nothing is moving - music 3rd, then gameplay. Reminded me of Sanza vs Shulk, which is high praise indeed.
Just b/c a game took 10 years and is on PS4 doesn't mean it's going to be a technological masterpiece, its a multiplat for starters. And I'm sure it will run just fine on Neo and Scorpio next year.
Considering the team seemed to constantly want to add more and more stuff (JC3 engine for instance), and the sheer amount of feature creep that seems to have found its way into this, i can imagine the original vision for this was buried under all that long ago.
Oh wait. It was. XD
Jeez, relax everyone. Its just a small taste. Why are we all so judgemental? It looked cool to me. Its all E3 fluff anyways. Were you all expecting a masterpiece before the game is even released? Oh well, I was pleased.
Well...at least the music was brilliant the problem is, a fight against a huge epic golem was awesome music in the background should theoretically be absolutely phenomenal, but it just looks really awkward and frustrating. I so badly just want to watch and think "Wow, this looks great", but everything from the framerate, awkward camera and bare-bones control system makes me really concerned
Honestly it was running on Xbox One. So it was never gonna look 'Great'. But im not sure that boss fight will be fun.
The gameplay looks like a mess...the music is AWESOME. Sigh, I am worried. I got this pre-ordered but they really CAN'T screw this up.
Reminded me vaguely of GoW
@oats-81 When a game is in production as long as this one has been, and is being released in a few months, yes--I expect a masterpiece. Or at least something that doesn't look like great.
Just E3 fluff? E3 is where they're supposed to cherry pick the BEST part of a game and present it to audiences to get them whipped up. If this is the best they've got to show, then I'd hate to see what a 'lesser' part of the game looks like.
@glassmusic This is your final warning, watch the language or next time you will be taking a vacation from the site. -Tasuki-
After the Platinum demo I lost all interest. They really need to step it up...
I'm hoping this demo was lackluster do to the crappy gamer playing it. He just got knocked down all the time. If that's how the fights are suppose to go I will be canceling my pre-order. I REALLY hope the finished version is better.
Watch the language -Tasuki-
Both demos have run pretty terribly and the gameplay just wasn't fun either. I was putting it to the back of my mind and hopefully assuming it would be okay in the end. Very little about the game inspires confidence. The real tragedy is that this is critical for the health of the series. Maybe eventual Neo, Scorpio and PC versions will play better but I think the rep damage will have been done by then.
The Platinum demo was poor, it wasn't fun to play at all. Terrible combat, frustrating camera.
My God, I think that the Golem boss from Dragon's Dogma is far more entertaining than this.
Am I missing something here or am I blinded by fanboism? I think this is great. I hear what everybody is saying but this looks insanely fun if you can play the battle right, of course, which this guy obviously didn't.
Pretty sure the guy playing it just doesn't know what he's doing, it looked like you could warp-dodge the sweeping attacks, and warp onto the Titan, which this guy completely failed at, either way SE should be embarrassed in that showing.
Still optimistic for the game though, I enjoyed Duscae 2.0 enough to pre order.
"It's the Xbox's fault!"
"Don't worry, the REAL game will run good on Neo and Scorpio!"
"That guy sucked!"
"Gameplay has never mattered as much as story and presentation anyway!"
Sounds an awful like the excuses used for the Platinum Demo.
"The game isn't finished yet! They'll clean it up!"
"This is only a TASTER, not a real demo!"
I want to play FFXV, but goddamn is the denial strong.
Game looks fun to me!
Ya there's some camera issues but, he's fighting a 500 foot colossus. Camera issues are sort of to be expected in those types of situations. I remember fighting some monsters in MH3U where I had the exact same problem
It's not gonna be The Witcher 3 people. This is Final Fantasy.
@NathanUC have you played Episode Duscae recently? They fixed the frame rate and its soooooo much better. It went from instantly unplayable to a solid, unwavering 30. This demo here seems to suggest the game will struggle but, yeah....that X1.
I've said it before and I'll say it again...give the Episode Duscae demo a few chances! I HATED it at first, but I stuck with it for a dozen hours and now I LOVE the combat to the point I changed my avatar and hope they don't alter it that much for the final release.
I like the way the titan's fist conveniently phases through the rocks in the background.
Not that it affects my pre-order, but it would've been nice if they at least added in some rock crumbling effects before the show instead of having that bug there.
After this, my interest in FFXV went from "1/10" to "Watch Dogs 2".
With every trailer, gameplay and demo I see or play I get less interested in this game....shame because I was looking forward to it but think I'll give it a miss.
Dude was getting beat up the whole time
This was the worst video I saw from either company. Hated it. It looks like an absolute mess. I wonder if Microsoft put it in their show just to make Scalebound look amazing in comparison 😅
By the way guys, do you really think that at the biggest gaming show of the year, Square would put someone on the game who didn't know how the game worked inside out? Barring any massive technical cock up (which I doubt as he managed to make it through the demo) I'd say it was just the terrible nature of the demo, not the player.
