There was some confusion as to the state of Dead Rising 4's exclusivity overnight, but that appears to be cleared up now: the zombie zapper will feel the festive spirit on the Xbox One and Windows 10 this December, with a Steam release to follow 90 days later – and a PlayStation 4 launch lined up for next year. The game will apparently be a "console exclusive" for 12 months, so expect to be playing it on Sony's system in December 2017.
The terms of the arrangement are exactly the same as Rise of the Tomb Raider, which is still yet to be dated for the PS4 by the way. To be honest, Dead Rising 4 probably would have been better off skipping PlayStation entirely, as the franchise has been so on-and-off on Sony's devices that it's never really established a fanbase on the formats. Still, this may come as good news for those of you who want to play the game, but aren't in the market for a new console.

Fair play to Microsoft, at least they quickly cleared up the confusion this time.
So the same as Rise of the Tomb Raider.....
These 12 month exclusivity deals are a little lame in my opinion, it offers little incentive to actually buy your console.
Either make the game wholly exclusive, like the original Titanfall, or don't do it at all.
With the amount of games out this October and November, RotTR will no doubt sell like crap on PS4 and capcom will probably cancel the PS4 version seeing that as a reaction to Squares agreement with Microsoft :/
@sub12 I tend to agree. Like, it's good that people are going to get to play it if they want to, but I can't imagine there's much of a fanbase for Dead Rising on PlayStation at all. People that want it will buy it on PC/Xbox, so what's the point of putting it out on PlayStation next year?
Nice, gives me more reason to sell my Xbox One. I bought it for the exclusives and now the exclusives are either on PC or coming to PS4 in the future.
I was waiting for Rise of the Tomb on PS4 but caved and just got it on Steam. I wasn't going to run out and buy an X-Box for it.
That would take something like Mass Effect being an exclusive.
@get2sammyb I tend to have a similar opinion - whilst I totally disagree with these 3rd party deals, at least if people want to play it, they will get the opportunity eventually.
Of course these deals can end up damaging the reputation and even the games opportunity to reach as many people as it would have had these deals not been in place. RotTR for example may not sell anywhere near as many as it would, could and/or should have because of upsetting the PS4 user base and facing a different competition in the market place. As someone who really enjoyed this game, and think it was one of the best that 2015 had to offer, I think its a shame that people would now not give it a chance on PS4 because of this. However I am pleased that PS owners will now get the opportunity to play it if they want...
Dead Rising is one of the franchise that is 'fun' but hardly a console seller. I can't see it setting the gaming world alight. Its one of those that I wouldn't miss if sequels never came out but quite good fun in small doses. No doubt some will get some mileage from it and if it came to GwG/IGC I would consider downloading. Again just pleased that people will have the option to buy if they want.
@get2sammyb
Dead Rising 4 could have done pretty well on the PS4, if it wasn't held back for a year......remember, many of us were not PS3 gamers last gen, I myself owned a X360 and Wii. Plus, Dead Rising, although it has a history with the Xbox brand, it also appeared on Sony and Nintendo consoles......it's not a tent pole Xbox brand, like Gears, Fable, Forza, and Halo.
If I remember correctly, didn't the XB1 exclusivity seem to hurt Rise of the Tomb Raider? Considering Dead Rising is out this year, I imagine that this deal was done long before RotTR was released, but hopefully if the sales fall short again it'll put these kinds of exclusives to bed for good.
I don't mind full on exclusives, but purposely delaying a release in favour of a single console just hurts the game in the long run. I mean I don't know about anyone else but considering RotTR will have been around on Xbox and PC for a year before it hits PS4, there's no way I'll stump up anywhere near the price of a brand new AAA game.
Spencer spouting lies again I see? What happened to no 3rd party deals. I feel for xbox when scorpio exclusives come, then again may as well get pc for any exclusives they have.
Meh looks lame anyway... A rehash of the first one (is it supposed to be)? As with tomb raider, I completely forgot about it untill now I doubt it will sell lots on ps4. Think I rather get days gone tbh!
It's like MS doesn't want to give gamers the incentive to buy their console ... Almost all of their exclusives are either timed exclusives or are also coming to a PC near you. If you buy an Xbox One and a PC, you are missing out a LOT of PS exclusives. If you buy a PS4 and a PC, you are missing ... what? One X1 game?
There's no reason to buy an X1 the way I see it. Not one.
I quite like that Microsoft are doing this as Tomb Raider and Dead Rising are games that I would only pick up if noticed they were cheap, plus they will come with the added benefit of a further year of tweaking and polishing before releasing on ps4
@sub12 Yeah, that's fair.
LOL
Wait that means this will go toe to toe with Days Gone. well i guess. will it?
The 1-year exclusively deals are a real shame for the game developers. They spend so much time making such a good game and it gets panned to the side during the holiday season. Rise of the Tomb Raider was, in my opinion, the best game of last year. It's a shame it didn't get the recognition (in terms of sales, at least) it deserved due to it not being on the most mainstream console.
With all the excellent games coming Tomb Raider & this will definitely be overlooked, especially if they are full rental price.
It's okay capcom, you can have the game exclusive to xbox1 & windows.
@get2sammyb
I don't think this one is as big a deal. I like Dead Rising but definitely view it as an Xbox franchise. Tomb Raider's strongest following is on PS, that's why that deal was so obnoxious, made worse by the fact that they being freaking idiots about the details surrounding the deal. At least this one there's no secretive bs. I'm buying it on the X1 later this year.
I dont mind it, will be picking it up for XBO. Looks rad.
This is simply how exclusivity works now with Capcom and Square Enix. SFV, RE7, FF7 re-telling; these all have some form of Sony exclusivity. I think SFV and RE7 are permanently exclusive...though microsoft could probably make money indirectly through PC gaming sales.
@viciousarcanum i think it will be left out there to die personally RotTR, dont remember it being advertised like crazy when it came out so i cant see them doing it for a rerelease, ill pick it up but itll be a while aftrr it comes out befire i do
