Titanfall 2 may well be the highlight of E3 2016 so far – and just to sweeten the pot, Respawn Entertainment has announced that all future map and mode DLC will be free for the PlayStation 4 first-person shooter. It makes sense, of course, as the alternative only serves to split the player base, which is never fun in an online-focused game.
"We'll definitely be supporting Titanfall 2 post-launch, and I can confirm all maps and modes we deliver post-launch will be free," development chief David Wrightman told Games Radar. "We'll be talking more about post-launch plans closer to release so stay tuned for more info." He added that the game will include some form of post-release monetisation plan, but promised that it wouldn't be "pay to win".
Our guess is that the developer will probably flog cosmetics like armour designs and skins for people who want them, and we're fine with that. As long as the microtransactions don't upset the balance of the game, then this is probably the best scenario for everyone involved. Wrightman concluded: "We're doing this for the community, not the dollars."

Wow, that's good. Essentially a free season pass? I'm even more convinced to go for it now...
The last game suffered from a diminishing player base so by the time the last DLC was out, it was virtually unplayable. That is of course one of the risks with a MP game - especially if it fails to keep the user base engaged...
I have NO issue with purely cosmetic additions that can be sold as micro-transactions - my issue comes as soon as ANY of those have any impact on the game - however slight.
This news though certainly increases my interest and pushes it further ahead of the other EA FPS Shooter - BF1
I like how a lot of companies are starting to have DLC be released for free. It's a trend that I'm happy to see starting to happen more and more.
