We've had doubts for some time with regards to Horizon: Zero Dawn's supposed 2016 release window - and for good reason, as far as we're concerned. We've seen very little of the title since it was officially announced last year, and it's clear that it's an incredibly ambitious project - but Sony still insists that Guerrilla Games' open world mech-'em-up is launching before the year's out.
As pointed out on NeoGAF, retail copies of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End contain a flyer for Horizon, which reiterates that it's a 2016 release. Regular readers will remember that last month, rumours that the game had been delayed into 2017 were doing the rounds, but with this flyer especially, it's safe to say that Sony's pushing the 2016 release window pretty hard. Heck, we may even get a confirmed date at E3 in June.
So, what do you think? Will we be scrapping giant robot dinosaurs before the end of this year? Make ridiculous weapons from junk in the comments section below.

And I still say Sony is full of it. I'd love to be wrong because this game is high on my most-wanted list but lets be real, it's not coming out in 2016.
They might be aiming for 2016 but think it will be 2017
That would be great but rather they take their time then rush out a buggy mess.
But... Last guardian? :/
Yeah, I still don't think it'll be out in 2016. It doesn't matter, though - the franchise has too much potential for them to rush this out and squander it by rushing to hit a 2016 release date.
@Splat
That and the other thing to consider is as a new IP Horizon could get buried under VR and possibly updated PS4 and Xbox One console hardware this holiday. MLB The Show, Ratchet & Clank and Uncharted 4 did their jobs, three high quality exclusives for the first part of the year. We'll see how No Man's Sky is received but clearly PS4 has had the mindshare again in the early part of this year. Sony will no doubt have some marketing deals lined up for the autumn shopping season so I say in terms of exclusives just get GT Sport out, if possible. If Horizon can factor in this holiday, and if Sony is willing to actually market it, great, but I'm not expecting that.
As long as the game isn't rushed to ensure it launches in 2016, I will be happy. The game has been in development since before Killzone launched so we don't really know how far along it was when we first got to see it nearly a year ago.
After Uncharted 4, Horizon is my most anticipated release...
They probably say these things to keep their shareholders happy.
I hope it's true.
If it's not coming this year, I wish they'd tell us rather sooner than later. Those last minute delays are always disappointing.
I WANT it to be this yr but I doutb it will be. Too many big games lik XV, Battlefield, TLG, maybe Mass Effect are coming out. Not to mention VR.
Oh Wait, isnt Rise of The Tomb Raider coming to PS4 this holiday?
Still doubt it. It's a game I just can't see coming out this year. It's too big a project. If it came out this year, I think it wouldn't be as big or good as the developers would like.
I am more excited for this game than any other coming out.
how is the game rushing out.or how do you know the game is not coming in 2016.the game is in development for years. so if they said it's ready it's ready
I don't think it will and the new GT and The Last Guardian to. Oh + Kara The only thing that will be out is Dreams I bet. Love them all to come out this year even tho I still got loads to play already
I'd be amazed if it did come out this year. Maybe it's a lot more finished than we think and they've just not shown it... But I'd put money on it getting pushed back for some extra polish.
The flyers could have been printed ahead of the change in release date I suppose. Its four weeks-ish til E3 and I really hope they show this and the last guardian off.
Well, there is my Christmas lineup sorted, Watch Dogs 2, Horizon Zero Dawn and likely a digital copy of something I missed out on, probably Mirror's Edge.
I'd be surprised if it's out this year, not bothered either way as long as it's brilliant.
Horizon, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Uncharted 4, and Persona 5 are the big games for me. I know Mass Effect is coming next year, but I would love to get my hands on Horizon.
If it doesn't, I'll be a bit disappointed. Here that, Sony? Yeah, some random fan will be a bit disappointed.
December 20th 2016
Well they did get killzone shadowfall to launch on time. They could pull it off with enough taiwanese workers... yes, its just like how cartoons are made.
@Gamer83 Do you follow Xbox as well? I know Quantum Break just released, and Scale bound is off in the distance, and it's getting FFXV but Sony is really good at making that feel like a PS4 game. Lots of multiples on both obviouly. But it just feels to me like MS is really taking a back seat this gen. I'm following Hollowlens but even that seems a bit quiet of late. Lots of Surface coverage, and Win 10 is still trying to update the world, but it feels to me like they've settled for 2nd in the console wars. Of course E3 could chanecthat, we might just be in a quiet time, but the war feels over to me. Well maybe not over, but the Victor has been decided.
that doesn't mean anything...
I don't think it's wise to release this new ip amid ps4 neo, ps vr, newest call of duty, final fantasy 15, etc2. Just delay it to 2017 and release it in calm month like bloodborne in march or maybe februari/april. Or if sony want to release it this year just dont launch it with the same month as call of duty, gears, or ff 15. Althought maybe this game will be a launch title for ps4 neo, hmm..
@rjejr
Yeah, I'm a huge Xbox fan as well. Really enjoyed Quantum Break but it failed to captivate I think the way MS wanted. Sales may end up being good but the reviews were mixed and the response was kind of muted compared to what Halo and Forza get and what Gears of War 4 will get later this year. I think MS still has a chance at drawing even or winning North America but Sony dominates Europe, until that trend changes, Sony should stay in front as long as it doesn't do anything colossally idiotic.
@Gamer83 Somehow I didn't know about GOW4 later this year, that certainly changes things a bit.
The X1 unveil was certainly US focused, all I remember is fantasy football. Is there a Fantasy FIFA madness overseas? If not, might be why MS can't crack it.
"Colossally idiotic" Don't know why, but that made me laugh.
Please be 2016 ray: Please be 2016 ray: Please be 2016 ray: Please be 2016 ray: Please be 2016 ray: Please be 2016 ray: Please be 2016 ray: Please be 2016 ray:
I hope this is true. Way too many games are delayed nowadays.
