Remember, a few years ago, when bow and arrows started popping up in tons of different games? Well, this year's equivalent appears to be the grappling hook. Not content with putting in an appearance in Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, it seems like the mechanic will be added to Titanfall 2. That's according to a Reddit leak, which has since been removed.
In addition to posting the embedded artwork, the supposed whistle-blower revealed that you'll be using your grappling hook in various ways, such as "getting into your Titan, aiding with free-running, or tactical plays such as pulling enemies while they're in mid-air". It all sounds incredibly fun, doesn't it? Let's hope that this part of the leak is accurate.
The poster also claims that maps will be much bigger than in its predecessor, which makes a lot of sense – developer Respawn no longer has to accommodate for the Xbox 360, after all. Furthermore, an October release date is touted, which would put it in the same timeframe as Battlefield 1. Likely? We'll see, but publisher EA has said that it's not worried about its two FPS titles deploying during the same period, so why not?

So much more interest in Titanfall 2 than Battlefield 1. Loved the first game, played the hell out of it (reason I bought an XBOX One). Yeah it had no campaign but the actual gun play and mechs were so good.
They added so many modes and improvements since the game launched, though a lot of people had stopped playing by then... shame, but I hope they take everything they learnt the first time and take that forward and improve it = winning formula imo.
Just give me a game where I can customise my mech. I want a carrot-style Gundam
@Cron_13 I'm right along with you. Sunset overdrive and titan fall justified my x1 purchase since I'm not a particularly big halo/gears/forza fan. But the guys at respawn had created some of my favorite titles of all time so I even bought the super ridiculous collectors edition of titanfall. The game was a ton of fun, gunplay and controls were spot on, everything really just felt so good except the laughably small amount of unlocks and the really weird resolution burned the heck out of my eyes if I played it more than an hour or 2 at a time.
No matter how much I'm looking forward to battlefield 1, titanfall 2 will easily get my money first if they launch within say 60 days of one another because after bf3 and bf4 I won't be touching a bf game until at least 2 months after release.
Grappling hooks in video games seems to be the in-thing right now.
@BigDaddyT0101 Yeah Sunset was another great game on the X1. I think I'll buy T2 on PS4, purely because I prefer the controller. My one hope though is that they don't have a season pass - I know its EA but I sincerely hope they take note of what Blizzard are doing with Overwatch (and UBISoft with Rainbow Six Siege) and don't segregate the user base.
There's plenty of ways to get extra income from your users with decent cosmetic items etc.
All the grappling hooks in games are just building up to the reveal of the ultimate grappling hook, webbing.
Still waiting for an Overwatch review, but I think I'd prefer my kid play Titanfall than Battefield, giant mechs are cool.
Titanfall had ziplining - so I guess this is the next step...
What I find funny though, is that Titanfall was supposed to be the next big thing, the CoD killer (although only releasing on XB1 was never going to kill CoD) because of the advanced movement, the freedom that gave, wall running was cool and overall everything was far more innovative than CoD which hadn't changed much in years. Now BO3 has Titanfall-esque movement, everyone (in the CoD community) wants to go back to the old movement that most CoD players were describing as 'stale' and 'slow' when Titanfall was announced/released...
I must admit I enjoyed Titanfall for the first few weeks. I ended up getting bored very quickly because of the limited weaponry, the limited modes (4 out of he 5 basically felt the same and the other wasn't much fun imo). The challenges to regen were annoying and frustrating, forcing you to play a certain way, use weapons you didn't like or even try and get lucky and be in the right place at the right time to stand a chance of completing them. That frustration, coupled with the very limited scope of the game ended up pushing me away. The mechanics and concept though was certainly good and the maps in general weren't bad - Boneyard with its Dragons was a favourite...
I am glad they are adding a SP campaign, just hope they can add more variety to the weapons and game modes - also rethink the whole regeneration system too. Titanfall felt like a 'demo' in a lot of ways on release - because of the lack of content - so hope they give us a complete package this time.
Still sounds more interesting than Infinite Warfare.
Glad to see this come over as well as sunset overdrive and the rare collection its the only exclusive x1 titles I'm interested in.
Good campaign and I'm in for a day-one buy, probably for Xbox One over PS4 though.
Awww man I really love giant mechs ,gundam fanactic here , (highly recommended gundam breaker 3 to all of you) but I really dont want this and bf1 to be in the same time frame. ....
One of the better online shooters in recent years, will be getting titanfall 2 on ps4
