Controversial tropical paradise simulator Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 is getting a free-to-play version later this month, according to Famitsu. The tweet, spotted and thoughtfully translated by Twitter user BlackKite, states that you'll be able to partner with leading lady Kasumi in all modes but casino. As its name suggests, casino mode lets you play an assortment of minigames based on cards and gambling.
The free-to-play version of the game will be available to download from the Japanese PlayStation Store starting the 16th May, and we imagine that you'll be able to purchase other characters and activities through microtransactions.
Think you'll be giving this a spin? Try not to blush in the comments section below.

you know you can buy the physical version from Asia with English subtitles on Amazon UK right now
and Amazon even dispatch them from the UK (they are Fulfilled by Amazon)
@Churchy I was SO CLOSE to putting the obligatory Father Ted picture in, but decided against it. Then I saw your comment and realised I was a fool. I've updated the article!
Free to play not that suprising will reach a larger audience which is good for any game. people can add the extra charcters which is fine. I do not have any issue with the game.
I might download it and give it a blast one lonely night.
@ShogunRok Always happy to be of inadvertent help!
I imported it and it's a really poor game.
Not sure why this game is controversial, there are worse things in the world than girls in swimsuits(if you even consider that to be a bad thing in the first place.)
Regardless, I bought this off the JP PSN store when it came out and have really liked it. I would've liked it to have kept jet skis though.
@k_sinner That's because these games objectify in a way that few games do to males. Males are always buff or capable and usually do everything they do while also being fully clothed or armored. I, personally, don't have anything wrong with a swimsuit party/ casino game (and I would love a pro-volleyball game), but it bothers me that there's no gender equality in these. Putting Ryu in would go a long way in saying games are no longer just a "boy's only" type of club and there's something here for everyone.
But even now I'm still disappointed that there's no Ryu private paradise in doa5 and I may skip this game because there's also no Mila or Lisa. (T-T )
Games where you are shooting people for prestege are far worse than this.
I bought this game, the girls look great, Soft Engine is awesome.
The game itself is really bad. Rushed & cheap cash grab.
But again, the girls look great.
