Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will look and play like a dream on the PlayStation 4, as Singularity developer Raven has been recruited to refresh the iconic first-person shooter with more than just an up-res. According to the official press release, the game will boast "fully improved texture resolution and detail, high-dynamic range lighting, lit and shadowing VFX particles, revamped animation and audio, stunning sound, and much more". The full campaign will be present and intact.
You'll also get access to ten multiplayer maps from the original, including Crash, Backlot, and Crossfire. "The original Modern Warfare raised the bar on video games and forever will be remembered as one of the best," said Raven's chief Brian Raffel. "It's an honour to be developing the remaster and we are committed to faithfully remastering this classic for Call of Duty fans."
So, how can you get it? Well, this is the bad news, as it's only currently confirmed as a bonus for various versions of new game Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Those include the Legacy and Digital Legacy Editions for $79.99 (€89.99), the Digital Deluxe Edition for $99.99 (€109.99), and the Legacy Pro Edition for $119.99 (€119.99). As of the time of writing there's no word on whether the remaster will be available individually, but we'll check in with Activision to find out.
In the meantime, here are the contents of the various Infinite Warfare packages described above:
- Legacy Edition and Digital Legacy Edition: Includes both Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered. ($79.99 / €89.99)
- Digital Deluxe Edition: Includes Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, and Season Pass. ($99.99 / €109.99)
- Legacy Pro Edition: Includes Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, Season Pass, collectible Steelbook, official game soundtrack, and additional digital items. ($119.99 / €119.99)

Include US Dollar prices in your articles please. Not everyone here is based in the UK
@DominicanGlory Prices are in Euro so your comment is a bit of a fail.
The remaster will probably be released standalone about a month after Infinity Warfare to maximise sales of that.
@DominicanGlory Done.
I will be pre-ordering the Legacy Pro Edition!!!
I wish legacy edition has collectible steelbook, I want the game and modern warfare remastered but I don't need season pass since I only play it for single player.
@BAMozzy Should be called the BAM edition. Got your name all over it!
I will probably pickup the cheapest one. I ain't played a COD since the disappointing MW3.
Saw this coming, and in terms of buying it separate lol. It's Activision so either pony up the extra $20 to prop up the sales of what would be (at least for me) a complete pass otherwise, or wait for the standalone which I can only assume will be $30 minimum. Heck they know a traditional mw collection is what we really want, but by doing mw this game, and mw2 the next infinity ward Cod release they can ensure great sales numbers for at least those 2 releases regardless of the main games quality.
@themcnoisy LOL Probably - I have the Steelbook version of every CoD since MW3 so I will definitely have to get the Legacy Pro edition just for that
I agree that MW3 was very disappointing. The campaign felt rushed, the DLC was poorly handled and the MP was 'broken' too but when you consider the difficulties at IW and the amount of development teams that worked on it before patching all the parts together and the fact that it was made in less time than any of the games from CoD4 onwards, its not surprising. It did have some great new features - like specialist scorestreak but its coding was certainly not great. It had poor lag and host compensation and coupled with bad hit detection, it got very frustrating. Apart from the 'hacked' games, MW3 is the one I would not return to.
Can't be called a bonus when you have to pay an additional $20 for it. lol
If I get the disc based legacy edition is the MW on the disc or a digital download?
Buying the legacy edition and then selling the Infinite warfare and keeping the remaster. My last call of duty was world at war.
So I get Infinite watefare for free with this MW remaster?
@dryrain Not sure, but probably a download.
@WanderingBullet exactly XD I always laugh at stuff like that.
What's up with that $ to € exchange rate?
Legacy for me I prefer to think of it as £60 for MW remaster and £20 for the Infinite Warfare addon as i'll be playing MW a hell of a lot more I reckon.
If it's a separate disc, I'll get the legacy edition. If it's not, then I'll just get the standard edition of the new game (if I get it at all).
I wish I could just buy MW remastered on its own. By the looks of things so far, Infinite Warfare hasn't really got me excited yet, though it's early days.
I would be happy to buy the game if the MW is a download then sell the disc copy.
@DominicanGlory funny, since they never show UK prices either!
@AyeHaley Same here.
What's the point of the 'pro' in the legacy edition, exactly??
I think i'll just get the cod4.
I guess I'm not playing the remaster after all then
Why is it popular to hate on CoD...Im not defending it..but im kinda tired of reading the same thing over and over...if they make more ww2 shooters people will complain that its the same thing over and over and that they want something different they get something different and they complain about how its not the same./rant
Looking foward to this next installment. .although i feel likei haven't played enough black ops3 and im still enjoying it (only played multiplayer, haven't touched zombies, campaign or dead ops) ...i know some people have played to death tho
@kyleforrester87 The 'Pro' version adds a steelbook, season pass, soundtrack and some digital extras.
It seems that the only way to get the download of CoD4 is to buy one of the legacy editions as they have said they will not be selling it as a standalone - 1 for the fans of the series!!!
@kickout Coz they are popular games so there are more people to both like and hate them I dislike them because this kind of game used to be so much better in my opinion. (MOH1, Frontline, the early COD's etc)
Still, some people love them and fair play, but there are plenty of better games to play right now I reckon.
Well, looks like Ill be skipping it after all.
No separate release? No purchase. I'm done with $60 annualized franchises.
Too many other games actually WORTHY of that money.
@BAMozzy still not sure why that makes it 'professional'! Lol
I really really doubt MWF1 will not be sold separately at some point after launch. They just don't want to announce it now and put off the people who would preorder Infinite Warfare for it. They will almost certainly mop up that extra £££ afterwards. Some of it will be my money, I imagine!
@kyleforrester87 I can see it being 'sold' at some point in the future too. At the moment though - according to their Twitch stream - it's not going to be a 'stand alone' item and the only way to get it is by buying the legacy editions. That's from IW and Raven (the studio responsible for doing the remaster)
I have no idea why its the 'professional' edition but its not the only item to add 'pro' to it to indicate the highest 'spec' version. You generally can't say that 'pro' CoD players will be needing this one as often DLC maps are not included in eSport matches and I doubt they would be playing CoD4 when they spend hours every day practising on the 'current' CoD game...
Can't find a UK seller for this version yet - only available in the US, Canada and Australia - according to the website. No doubt being a specific retailer exclusive!
EDIT: Its at Game for £110!!! Ouch!!! - still pre-ordered though...
Wow , the amount of COD fans in this community really suprises me.
@Bazza78 Why? A game franchise that regularly sells 20m+ - even Ghosts which didn't sell 'that' well according to the internet - must have a lot of followers. As of April 2015, the Call of Duty series has sold over 175 million copies. Sales of all Call of Duty games topped US$10 billion.
Too put that into perspective - it takes nearly 32years to live for 1billion seconds - how many $'s per second must CoD be getting?
The biggest selling game of 2015 was CoD:BO3 yet was only on sale for 2months - its still in the top 10 seven months after release. Even CoD:AW makes the top 10 for best selling games of 2015.
What surprises me is all the 'hate' it gets online considering the amount of people that must own a copy....
@BAMozzy where did i say it suprises me in a negative way?
