When Street Fighter x Tekken turned out to be a bit of a disappointment, the hype for its sibling, Tekken x Street Fighter - which was originally announced all the way back in 2010 - died down a little. The two titles were supposedly going to sit side by side, but news of the latter slowly started to fade away over time.
And now, here we are in 2016, and we haven't heard a peep from the project in ages. It's no surprise, then, that in an interview with GameSpot, Tekken kingpin Katsuhiro Harada has revealed that the title is no longer in active development. Harada states: "a good window in which to release Tekken x Street Fighter is something that's become difficult recently. So it's on hold for the moment."
It makes sense, though. With Street Fighter V busy trying to prove itself and Tekken 7 due out on consoles at some point in the relatively near future, neither Capcom nor Bandai Namco will want to draw attention away from their current projects.
Still, were you looking forward to this one, or has it been way too long since we heard anything concrete? Make your own crossover in the comments section below.

Can't believe Capcom screwed up Street Fighter X Tekken... that basically sold itself and they found a way to finish it.
I'd rather hear about Tekken 7 honestly. This fell off my radar after Street Fighter x Tekken was tush. Even discounting the on disc DLC, I found the game kinda dull.
Hmm, I would be more excited about Soul Calibur VI. I never owned a PS growing up, so Tekken always seemed foreign (although I enjoyed tag 2),.....but I do have very fond memories of Soul Calibur on the Dreamcast and it's sequel on the original Xbox.
@DerMeister
I agree that the game is rather lifeless. I think a lot of that has to do with the gem system, the overly short timer for each match, and the somewhat lame presentation......the Tekken characters are nice but the backstory and environments seemed forced. I guess you could argue the same for Capcom VS SNK, but the gameplay, and supporting cast of fighters rose above any presentation hiccups.
Well, there's always Akuma in Tekken 7. Not surprised to hear about this.
I actually wanted to see how fireballs were going to be implemented in 3D
Tekken X Street Fighter was the one I was looking forward to the most out of the two. I prefer the playstyle of Tekken more then SF and was curious how characters like Ryu and Chun Li would have worked. However I figured this was the case since it's been ages since we heard anything.
@DualWielding: You can always play the Street Fighter EX series on PS one to see that.
Exactly. It makes a lot of sense for that decision.
They could have pulled it off most definitely. The problem here is capcom, I know there are die hard Street fighter fans, but over the years when it comes to fighting games, capcom fails to evolutionize Street Fighter, they just can't do it, so all street fighter fans will get is a rehash of the same game, but looks better. yawn honestly, I use to love street fighter, but it's basically capcoms one trick pony.
Fine by me, allows Namco to focus more on Tekken 7 and making sure it's not the complete joke that is Street Fighter V.7
Amother example of Announcing games WAY too early. Are you listening CD Project Red? Most of the people I know wanted a Tekken style gane with SF characters. Not a SF style game with Tekken characters. This was back in 2010 mind you. I think they released the wrong game first.
Not fussed, more interested in Tekken 7 to be honest. Still waiting for a release date.
I really liked Street Fighter X Tekken but couldn't really get into it at the time. I am a little disappointed by this news, though, gotta say.
@sub12 I would have to agree actually, a soul calibur 6 would be awesome actually. I still have my Dreamcast copy. Had to hunt it down. Worth it though! Lol.
