Revealed earlier this week, Dynasty Warriors: Eiketsuden is developer Omega Force's first jab at crafting a strategy role-playing game. We remarked that a trailer wouldn't be far off, and while we sadly haven't got our hands on any gameplay, Famitsu's posted a bunch of screenshots that give us our first look at the release.
Showcasing a gridded map, a cutscene, and a shot of some action, the title seems to be exactly what you'd expect. The game's due out on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Vita later this year in Japan, and while there's been no word on a Western release, we certainly wouldn't rule it out, although it'll probably be a while before we hear any confirmation.

I'm actually really interested in this I hope it comes to the west.
It looks kinda awsome.
I like Dynasty Warriors and I absolutely love turn-based strategy so hopefully this one will deliver, I was very disappointed by Koei's latest offering, that is, Samurai Warriors 4 Empires.
So this is kinda going back to their Rot3K strategy games?
Strategy RPGs and Me - this sort of thing is my bag... baby.
As a Fire Emblem fan, I'm more interested in this game that in Dynasty Warriors 9 (which to me is always worst than Samurai Warriors, and 4 kind of put the bar very high)
@Frank90
Fire Emblem!!!

After playing FE Fates: Conquest my inner SRPG craving is intensely satisfied (if you haven't played it, I recommend doing so now).
This looks interesting, but grid-based SRPG's are tough to get right. Many try... few succeed. I'm cautiously hopeful, but for now let's just be glad more devs are realizing there's a market for this genre. Bioware tweeted about a Dragon Age SRPG in the vein of Fire Emblem a while back, so it seems like the genre is making a comeback.
@JaxonH I did, and by the way Conquest is my favorite of the three (Revelation is a close second and Birthright...I don't know I like the characters but the stages itself put me a bit off after the marvelous that is conquest).
And yeah it's a hard genre because everything matters, AI, difficulty, characters, story, map design. It may be cheaper to make than an open world sandbox, but to me, it's much more difficult to make a good strategy game.
If this is done right, it would definitely get my attention more than the main Warriors titles. I couldn't decide which title to get and I just see myself playing it for one hour and then putting it down. But this could be right up my alley (unless they give Samurai Warriors the same treatment). It's giving me Langrisser vibes, as well, with the one vs. multiple enemies battles.
