Platinum Games' take on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hits PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 this May. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan should be a solid nostalgia trip for anyone who grew up with the green goodies back in the 90s, and with the well known Japanese developer behind the wheel, we have to imagine that this'll have the potential to be another Transformers: Devastation success story.
The turtles will be popping out of the drains on the 24th May, so you'd best find a friendly giant rat and get your training started as soon as possible. Is this one on your radar? Fight over who gets to be Raphael in the comments section below.
Update: This story was originally sourced from IGN, who stated that the game is coming this month, on the 24th March, when it's actually releasing on the 24th May. Quite the blunder, eh?

The trailer says 5.24.16. Am I missing something cause IGN reported a March release date too but it's pretty dang clear at the end of the trailer....
@Andr0idLife Yep, IGN made a mistake - I've updated the article.
Getting the release date wrong after getting your own exclusive trailer is pretty embarrassing, but I should have given it a watch right to the end myself before posting this story.
Still, you'd think IGN's story would be accurate... Clearly you can never be too careful!
@ShogunRok No kidding! I was hyped and then I watched the trailer and was like......I don't think March is the fifth month. IGN.....you're killing me, here. xD
Happens to the best of us!
May has some pretty solid games lined up with Doom, Uncharted 4, Overwatch, and now this!
I was just going to double check this but you've already amended it. To be honest I think IGN is pretty rubbish anyway so it's hardly surprising.
@ShogunRok Your mistake though was been under the impression that IGN knows what it's doing
@ShogunRok You were probably just thrown off by the inclusion of the PS3 version in 2016. (I'm really the only person who mentions PS3, aren't I?)
@adf86 No comment!
@rjejr Of course not... ahem.
@rjejr
Yes, you need to stop! Let the PS3 go already!
@Gamer83 Blame Platinum.
LOL
4 PLAYER OR BUST
Seriously Platinum, do it. It'll make it legendary!
I used to love the turtles. Everyone had thier favorite....mine was Raphael
WHY does this constantly keep getting reported as a nostalgia game!!!????
it is a complete translation of the current IDW published Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic, currently up to issue 55! It has nothing to do with the film, it has nothing to do with the 80's or 90's/00's or current cartoon series or even the films.
It follows the new lore of TMNT where splinter is actually the turtles father, all five started off human and mutated. the fights are violent and end badly quite frequently. Bebop and Rocksteady are violent psychopaths.
The art style is directly lifted from the current comics and it looks amazing http://www.idwpublishing.com/product/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-vol-6-city-fall-part-1/
Given how Platinum handles this kind of game and given the ACTUAL source material, this game has potential to be amazing.
@DESS-M-8 To be fair, I'd imagine most people these days still associate TMNT as a relic of the 90s rather than the most recent comics. Myself included, even if the newer comics look pretty great.
@ShogunRok To be fair though, this game is 100% based on current source material and bears no relevance on the 90's cartoon. Reporting on a game and not informing people of this and implying it is a nostalgia based game is just misinforming people.
fans from the last three decades will all be interested in this game by default, however, those unaware of the actual turtles source material may be quite shocked by how different it is
@DESS-M-8 I think when people say nostalgia game they are talking about the gameplay is reminiscence of the old Arcade beatem up as those were the most popular type of TMNT games. Not the actual content.
Although @ShogunRok could be right too, most people associate TMNT with the late 80's early 90's since that was their peak of popularity.
@DESS-M-8 Can't be as shocking as what Michael Bay originally wanted to do.
Oh wow, don't think its wise for them to release the game in May. Uncharted 4, DOOM, Valkyria Chronicles, Mirror's Edge and Overwatch are all releasing that month just to name a few.
@WanderingBullet Clearly games companies don't even want us going to the toilet that month.
@Churchy I'll be visiting the bank often, though.
@Tasuki I associate TMNT with hot Megan Fox.
@rjejr ROFL. That's ok I associate Transformers that way
@rjejr
I find myself playing PS3 games more and more often lately, I even play games on it I also own on PS4 like Resogun and Helldivers. The store is ridiculous, just like downloading and installing is, but other than that it's a delight to play on. I must admit I play with a Madcatz MLG controller, but apart from the horrible DS3, the PS3 is my favorite console along with the GameCube.
@Tasuki The first few times I saw the new TMNT movie trailer I thought it was Transformers, so I totally get that.

And then Arrow showed up.
@Boerewors I haven't been playing on my PS3 b/c I'm 155 hours into XCX, that's all I've been playing since Christmas day, but my PS3 backlog keeps getting bigger from all the sales - Ni No Kuni, KoA:Reckoning, Injustice, Skyrim, and the Mass Effect trilogy I bought for about $5 but I know I'll never play it. One hour into the first game and I was ready to move on.
I probably don't need a PS4 for another 2 or 3 years to keep me busy, but I need to play FFXV, U4 and R&C sooner rather than later.
@rjejr
About a year ago a friend of mine wanted to borrow my PS4, he torn some ligaments in his knee so he had plenty of time to game. After about 2 months he asked me if I wanted my PS4 back and honest to God I didn't miss it at all! Sure, I also own all other consoles, but it's the PS3 that keeps on pulling me back....
XCX is one of the best games this generation and I wish I could go back in time to play it again. I don't have the time to start all over, I spent 128 hours in it, but sweet Lord what a game; everything it does, it does right. I'm now playing Bravely Second, which I really like too, but sometimes my mind wanders off to XCX. The Wii U is such a wonderful console, the Gamepad is an almost perfect controller (I'm serious) and it has some of the best games this gen for sure...a shame so little gamers care.
If I recall correctly, the original tmnt comics were very mature and violent before they became kid friendly and what most people are nostalgic for. If this is based on a reboot of sorts comic series I wasn't even aware of, I will definitely look forward to this although I forever love the 90s tmnt games cartoon and action figures
@Tasuki
Most people do.
But most people haven't written this article.
This is an informative piece of journalism intended for most people to read; therefore should inform correctly, rather than reinforce incorrect perception.
@Churchy just set your TV and PS4 up in your bathroom
problem solved
My sister is hyped for this. I told her the release date and she was happy cause "I should be able to plat Ratchet & Clank by then".
@Boerewors "a shame so little gamers care."
I second that. But I mostly blame Nintendo, not gamers .Here's my reason why - compare news and marketing for XCX compared to FFXV. And I don't think that's an unfair comparison. If Squenix did XCX we would have been drowning in media. But Nintendo buys Monolith, Monolith makes XC, Nitneod makes it a Gamestop exclusive in the US, then Monolith makes XCX, Nintendo releases it December 4,- after Black Friday - and hardly promotes it at all, spending all their money on Super Mario Maker and bundling Wii U w/ year old Mario Kart 8. Oh sure they had a great deal for BF - SSB and Spaltoon - but it went away after that weekend and now we are back to MK8 again.
The entire history of Wii U is bad marketing from day 1. And it has always been over priced. The "Nintendo Selects" that came out last Friday are a year over due, and having different games in the US and EU makes little sense. Wii U has just been one mistake after another on their part.
Remember when they promised dual Gamepad game support? Still waiting. Not really.

Si I can't say that I blame gamers, only that I feel bad for them for missing out on some great games, but it's Nintedo job to sell them on the console, and Ntineod failed miserably at that. Whoever thought "asymmetric gameplay" was a good marketing phrase has hopefully been long fired.
http://venturebeat.com/2012/06/05/nintendo-bets-big-on-asymmetric-tablet-based-gameplay-one-player-against-several/
Funny thing, I like the name Wii U, thought it was a clever emphasis on the Gamepad - U = you - but the logo is lame, the U needed to be much larger, but it looks like an add-on to the Wii,hence some peoples confusion that Wii U was only the Gamepad that synced with the Wii. Like I said, bad all around on Nintendo's part.
Platinum should make a spiderman game.
@DerMeister IGN did a gameplay footage and in it they mentioned that there'll be four-player co-op.

@Boerewors @rjejr
It doesn't help that Nintendo continues to pretend that games like GTA, Mortal Kombat, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, Tomb Raider, Titanfall, Call of Duty etc, don't matter. If Nintendo would get a clue and fix the third party situation (I don't care how much some people hate GTA or want to call it overrated, it is a hugely important franchise, just like Call of Duty), people will continue to not give a f**k. It's been this way since the N64 and it's ridiculous at this point and there's always excuse making or finger pointing at the third parties rather than Nintendo itself.
@Gamer83 I blame Nintendo for almost everything, as you probably read - but not 3rd party support, I can't blame them for that. And I can't really even blame the 3rd parties b/c it wasn't their fault Nintendo put out an SD Wii when Sony and MS had HD consoles. OK, so maybe I blame Nintendo a little.
But I honestly think it is just $, 3rd party games don't sell very well on Nintnedo hardware, and w/ Wii and Wii U being so different than the other 2/4 consoles, well how many versions can another company make when those versions won't sell?
I don't think Nintneod needs GTA though, or Batman or Assassins Creed, I don't think any one console needs to be all things to all people - PS4 sells just fine w/o SSB or Mario Kart and those games sell millions of copies each. But Nintneod does need Madden and FIFA. You cant sell a console in the US w/o Madden, and you can't sell a console in the rest of the world w/o FIFA. And probably COD would be really nice, but it might survive w/o it if it had the 2 big sports franchises.
Of course my view is slightly skewed, I really see Nitneod more as a kid sconsole, and a 2nd one at that. Nintneod has a few must have games, and people must buy a Nitneod console to play those games, but as a 2nd console it must be cheaper, and Wii U simply isn't. But I still don't think NX really needs allof those adult games, but it does need sports. Kids lay sprts games, adn parents play sprots games w/ their kids, an dkids grow into teens who play sports games. W/o sports games you have a Pokemon handheld.
And Monster Hunter. MH has done just as much for 3DS as against Vita, so Nintneod does have 1 big 3rd party franchise that could be considered "non-kiddie", but everybody always forgets that one. If NX is a handheld, Pokemon, MH, SSB, MK and a fw sports games coudl get it thru w/o GTA, AC, or even COD. 3DS has sold 50 MILLION units of hardware w/o GTA in a world ruled by tablets and smartphones. 50 mil ain't all bad.
