We remember when Dead Island was a thing before Dying Light came along and made the franchise look like a beta test. Both the original and its sequel, Dead Island: Riptide, weren't terrible games, but we wouldn't say that they're worthy of a PlayStation 4 remastered collection, either.
But with titles like Prototype getting reworked for Sony's latest console, we guess that just about anything's possible - and that's why we may be getting Dead Island: Definitive Collection. According to listings on Best Buy, the package will consist of both Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide in their definitive forms, and it'll launch on the 31st May. It'll also feature "a brand new stand-alone 16-bit game set in the style of a classic side-scrolling action / endless runner within the Dead Island universe," called Dead Island: Retro Revenge. Well, okay then.
As the headline says, we're not sure anyone actually asked for this, but we suppose that keeping the dead buried is harder than it looks.

This franchise is... Dead.
After Dying Light, I just have no interest in Dead Island at all. Wasn't into it at the time on ps3 either. Isn't there a new Dead Island being made? Haven't heard anything since it was delayed ages ago.
Anyway, I'll prob pick this up when its a €1 for the retro game
Sounds like there trying to drum up interest after Dead Island 2 was put on hold.
Final Fantasy XIII trilogy (yeah is not great), another Metal Gear Collection, another Kingdom Hearts collection and Mass Effect Trilogy are the only remasters that I have a slight interest. Oh and Fire Emblem Radiant Saga too, but it's a Nintendo exclusive so it's not suited for this comment.
Not sure if i should go with "Oh good I love a good fetch quest" or "who do, your vodoo B.."
I only played the first one in it's goty edition on 360. It all depends on how they remastered the games; with real improvements in graphics and fps, $ 40 sounds a good price for those who missed them.
I didn't mind that game when it was released on the PS3 it was buggy....but enjoyable to me...I would consider it in time
Blimey, its getting a bit blatant now with some of these rehashes. I played Dead Island on my 360 and enjoyed a bit too, but after Dying Light and the Following dlc, I have zero interest... If it was Left 4 Dead with mods etc, then maybe i'd take a look but this, well this is a game that firmly needs to be left where it is... in the last gen...
What world do we live in where Dead Island gets a remaster before Mass Effect?
im one of the few who loved those games. still not sure if i can go back to it after dying light though.
I will buy this once it's in the super cheap bin till then I have no interest
I like most zombie games and never tried these so will pick them up.
I've got dying light no need for this
Haha just no.
I only want riptide.
I wouldn't mind playing 2 again but only for a weekend, I've no interest in buying a collection.
I found the dead island series buggy but fun. But doing light was infinitely better. Like night and day... Pun intended lol.
The most memorable Dead Island experience was the trailer. Gameplay was ok.
I have no problem with reissues if they are games that hit a certain quality bar or will lead into the next step in the franchise. This just seems pointless.
$40 for both games and dlc plus available on disc is a great deal for first time players. Previous players, like me, will probably pass. However i could find Riptide tempting to replay depending on reviews.
