Even though we often think that Dead or Alive 5: Last Round's costume downloadable content is hilariously overpriced, we sometimes do have to admit that the outfits themselves are rather impressive. Once again, this is the case with the fighter's latest pack, which is available now.
Based on the looks of characters found in numerous retro animes from Japanese studio Tatsunoko Productions, anyone who's familiar with these older animations from the 60s, 70s, and 80s will appreciate the effort that seems to have gone into this newest batch of outfits. We're especially liking Ryu Hayabusa's Tekkaman get-up.
Take a look at the DLC trailer and then let us know if you're feeling the nostalgia in the comments section below.

I know some of these characters from Tatsunoko vs Capcom.
I want to get this game but I get confused and annoyed by the payment schedule.
@sinalefa
I'd say it's worth buying the game if you can get past the stigma that comes along with DoA. There actually is a very fun fighting game buried beneath all the stuff that makes some people extremely uncomfortable (fortunately I'm a point in my life where I just don't give a damn what people think about what I play, I've been made of for playing DoA, but also laughed at for playing SSB). The amount of DLC is a bit ridiculous, I agree, but you can just pick and choose. It's just costumes after all and despite the abundance of DLC there's enough content packed into the main game.
@Gamer83
Actually DOA Dimensions was my first DOA, so I have been there. I was actually playing Project Mirai DX on the bus yesterday, so I don't care about people's thoughts, but I was not sure how much you get with the core package, so to speak.
Thanks.
@sinalefa
Ah, gotcha. It's a full game. I bought it at $40 but it might be cheaper now. Definitely a good buy. And DoA Dimensions was also one of my first 3DS games. Great stuff and I really appreciated how they did DLC in that one. All free, just leave the system in sleep mode and you'd get some costumes. Wish they'd do that with Last Round as obviously PS4 and Xbox One are capable of handling that kind of DLC schedule.
I have only played the free version and enjoy the fighting aspect of the game.
I actually really enjoy the game. Haters can hate all they want. All people want to talk about is the T&A but it's a pretty fun fighting game.
That said the DLC is laughable high. I have bought a few costumes but the season pass bundle stuff is ridiculous.
@sinalefa Makes me want a new W101 game. Very different game I know, something about the costumes. I'd even settle for a W101 fighting game, some great characters in that game.The whole universe was great, like Voltron or Gatchaman, what a shameful waste.
@rjejr
I second that. The whole game has a superhero show vibe, kinda reminds me of the Thunderbirds too as the characters look so shiny as if made of plastic. My hope is that each of Kamiya's IP has had a sequel (DmC, Okami, Bayonetta, Viewtiful Joe), so this one would be awesome to have.
Just look at my avatar, for crying out loud!
@sinalefa If you like shiny and Thundercats do you know Silverhawks? Only lasted 4 months but it was great.

And I don't know who your avatar is, looks like random blue-haired anime girl #10,000. Maybe someone out of the Star Ocean series? I always just call her Kos-Mos in my head, but I call all the blue-haired anime girls Kos-Mos. All the CG brunettes are Rinoa.

@rjejr
Oh, I was raised on that one. But I meant Thunderbirds, not Thundercats. I thought you would know, the thing is your age actually.

My avatar is AliceMcGregor, the pilot of the Virgin Victory in W101. She is playable as an unlockable character as Wonder Scarf, but you mostly see her in cutscenes.
No G Force?
Oh man, I read Thunderbirds as Thundercats? Don't suppose you went back and edited that? Yeah, that's my time, all those marionette shows are great. My wife can't watch them though, she says they freak her out, so I don't watch them now.
I remember Alice now, she mostly just stood around talking. I think. Now lets see how long until I forget.
Haha totally gonna get this whenever I get the game. It's fun! Ignore what people say about this franchise, they're missing out.
No Karas costume for Ryu Hayabusa equals no sale
