Phwoar, there's nothing like a vague tweet to get you hyped for an upcoming release. This time around, veteran Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward is hitting the hype train, writing that 2016 "is going to be incredible".
For those out of the loop, this year should mark Infinity Ward's turn with Activision's mega franchise. The series is now on a three-year development cycle, with Sledgehammer Games, Treyarch Studios, and Infinity Ward all trying to define the shooter's future.
Of course, many fans will tell you that Infinity Ward has already accomplished that in the past with the likes of the phenomenally successful Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, so it'll no doubt be interesting to see what the studio attempts to achieve with 2016's entry. The developer's last title was the underwhelming Call of Duty: Ghosts, so let's hope that it gets back on track with whatever it's been working on over the last couple of years.
Are you looking forward to this one? Do you think that Infinity Ward still makes the best Call of Duty games? Earn a killstreak in the comments section below.

OH MY GOD A NEW CALL OF DUTY!!!!!!
never saw that one coming *Sarc
if they make it as good as treyarch made black ops 3 I see no problem, I probably won't buy it but my brother definitely will.
EDIT: maybe this COD will be a really bad one, it's the 13th entry in the series.
I prefer ghosts to black ops III and advanced warfare, both in terms of campaign and multiplayer so I'm tentatively looking forward to what they'll put out
Infinity ward is the weakest of the 3 developers now no thanks il stick with treayarch
Mate, have you even played any of the Modern Warfare's? Infinity Ward are much better than Sledgehammer Games. The only reason I prefer Treyarch to Infinity Ward is due to Zombies. Infinity Ward for Campaign and Multiplayer and Treyarch for Zombies.
Modern warfare is making a comeback. You heard it here first
If they get out of this future crap, I'll be so thankful and return to CoD. If not bring on Battlefield 5.
Ghost sucked, and the ending set up a sequel so kinda expecting a sucky sequel.
Personally I enjoyed Ghosts as it was much better than the mess that Modern Warfare 3 was - which I know wasn't helped by the major break-up of IW and number of different developers involved. Ghosts had a good campaign and I enjoyed the co-op extinction mode too. Its MP wasn't that bad in my opinion. It had good hit detection but I guess some of the on disc Maps were a little large. However the DLC maps - particularly Fog addressed a lot f the issues I had and by the end of the DLC season, I actually started enjoying the big maps like 'Stonehaven' as it offered something 'different' and a change of pace and I particularly enjoyed playing 'infected' on these. I also think it brought a lot of fun to CoD too with its map specific Field Orders - Mike Myers, Predator, Pirate Ghosts etc and it was also the only CoD to have any form of 'destruction' that changed the way the map played - albeit not by much. Considering IW only had 2yrs to make Ghosts and had to make it for both Gen 7 and 8 consoles as well as PC, I think it was overall OK. I know it wasn't as good as BO2 which didn't help - a bit like initial feeling towards [email protected] after CoD4 but it certainly wasn't the worst game in the franchise.
I am certainly willing to give IW a chance after Ghosts as IW now have the extra year of development time and doubt they have to be concerned about gen 7 consoles either. The campaign was enjoyable if somewhat cliched and I am looking forward to a new 'Extinction' co-op story too. It's not as good as Zombies in my opinion but it was certainly 'different' and good fun. I made a lot of new friends playing this and also enjoyed the Clan Wars too.
Infinity Ward has never impressed me with their entries. Ghosts was okay - if nothing else, the storytelling and setting context was better explained than the Modern Warfare series (and I'm a story-driven gamer), but honestly, Infinity Ward hasn't really impressed me with a Call of Duty game since Call of Duty 2 ten years ago.
Hopefully we see a return to WW1 or WW2 all in glorious 1080p. Come on make it happen, I'm fed up of the future - it sucks.
Because they'll say it's gonna be a pretty good, but not great instead. In other news, the pope is still Catholic.
@themcnoisy YES THIS NOW!!!
@themcnoisy YES THIS NOW!!!
Just give me some more Wolfenstein. Easily the best FPS on the ps4/xbone1. Such a great game imo.
@GHO5T-08-12-80 Yep, people seem to forget that "all" the infinity ward talent left for respawn. Treyarc is the only decent developer left.
