Street Fighter V's agonisingly close to release now, and Capcom's really beginning to delve into the nitty-gritty regarding the PlayStation 4 and PC exclusive sequel. This video is a good example of that: it outlines every mode that will be included with the fighter at launch, while also offering a glimpse at innovative new components like the Capcom Fighters Network.
Remember, this release will constantly be updated post-launch, with a full cinematic story mode on the way this summer. It's left yours truly pondering whether to buy the physical or digital edition, though. The former is obviously cheaper, but the latter seems like it will be way more convenient. What version are you getting?

Forgotten but will the full cinematic scenes replace the illustrated ones or are they different?
Physical copy hot because I am a collector but for the fact it will take so long to download and f I want to delete and reinstall at a later date will be a lot quicker.
So is there a season pass or is it just random updates?
@WanderingBullet The illustrated "stories" will be there at launch. Then the cinematic story will be added as an extra mode in the summer.
@get2sammyb Gotcha. I was under the impression that they were the same thing. Thanks.
Btw, I'll be getting the physical edition as I always do. Hope to see an unboxing video for the Collector's Edition before the game releases as well.
I got pretty speedy Internet so digital won't be a problem for me, so I think I'm going digital. Like I do with all games I'll for sure keep. I'm also buying the collector's edition, but that puppy is staying sealed.
Pray tell @get2sammyb there's not a significant difference in price digital vs physical is there? Or are you speaking from the fact that as per usual, you're always likely to find a physical copy cheaper?
Are games ever cheaper at launch on digital?
I prefer getting physical games, but I doubt I'll be able to get this game at launch.
Some features seem really nice. The CFN reminds me alot of Tekken's World Tekken Federation. Hopefully SFV will keep their service longer than Tekken's though.
I just want to know if my PS3 stick will be compatible here. Guess I will have to learn the hard way when this launches.
I wanted to preorder on psn but the price has secretly increased from 60 to 70 (!) euros. I guess I may go physical or wait for a discount.
I imagine you can do local co-op, right?
It's about time this game released. Feels like we've been waiting forever...
Feb 16th release date. Hmm, undecided if I will buy at launch, tempting.
I'm gonna wait. Not happy with the lack of modes, no team attack, only 16 fighters, bare bones package with a free upgrade to cinematic story? Why are we buying this rubbish? If they spent half as long on extra modes as these video exposés we would have a finished game. Capcom made a fortune off sf4 and they repay us with this rubbish. I've come to the conclusion most publishers think we are thick. They are right.
@themcnoisy
Bro, haven't you heard about fighters cash? The game is practically free........grind for a measly 100 hours and you can unlock a costume, grind for a forgettable 200 hours and you can unlock a character!! Free!! You can't beat that. Also, being the generous company that we are, if you don't like playing much, you can buy our 30 dollar season pass (only good for 2016, not counting the 30 dollar 2017 pass) or pay 5 bucks a costume or 10 dollars a fighter!!
Are you ready for the fight!!???!!
FREE!!!
@themcnoisy Capcom couldn't afford to make SFV in the first place, that's why Sony got involved. More modes will likely be added later so no big deal and as for the story, no one plays Street Fighter for the story. Capcom have always said that SFV will grow over time with regular updates which is better then rereleasing the game 4 times.
@sub12 At least there not charging £20 for 4 fighters like MKX did, at least you have a way to get new characters for free.
@adf86
This is true, and to be honest here, I'm sure SF V will be the superior fighting game of the two. Also looking forward to KOF 14..........Tekken 7? Meh.....
@adf86 You don't seriously believe that Capcom couldn't make sfv on their own? This is a company consisting of 15 subsidiaries all over the world. Don't believe everything you read the men at the top of Capcom are very wealthy indeed. The employees are very talented and the team was already in place.
To be honest there is no point in me bringing up what are becoming increasingly mute points, my relatively old school thinking such as a complete game on release (this literally doesn't happen anymore) loads of modes (like Tekken 2 off the ps1) no nickel and dime tactics (like witcher 3) a story mode (these are being ripped in the favour of less time consuming multiplayer experiences) and skill based gameplay (as opposed to pay to win) are all affecting AAA games.
This version of sfv being released is a shell and if you think the people behind street fighter vs Tekken who were asking for day 1 expensive dlc for on disc characters is going us a favour by including a 'cinematic story mode' months after release the worlds gone mad. The game isn't finished as to what we all should expect - single player story mode and all.
@themcnoisy Yes I do believe that Capcom couldn't afford to make SFV in the near future because they've been under financial strain for a few years now and look at there recent output. Two Resi remasters, Dragon's Dogma for PC, Mega Man Legacy and SFIV (which Sony paid for) in other words not many NEW games have come from them. Deep Down has disappeared and there new engine would have cost a lot in R&D and it hasn't been used. Yoshinori Ono said himself on Twitter two years ago that SFV won't happen for a long while yet. That's when Sony jumped in. But what's also worth bearing in mind is that Capcom will want SFV out well in time for the Evo tournaments (since it'll be seen as the big marquee game) and the pros will need as much time as possible to get used to each fighter. Of course this doesn't concern people like us but the pro players will play a part in how the game gets balanced and altered over time because they spend the time to really figure each character out. So for Capcom it's not just a marketing opportunity, it's also gives them the data they need to keep people coming over time.
@themcnoisy My thick self thinks this rubbish will actually be pretty fun to play. So I'll buy it.
I understand your concerns, but as dumb as this sounds, some of the content is well, meh. 16 fighters is actually not bad for a fighting game, and rosters the size of SF4 (especially by the time Ultra came around) can actually be detrimental to a fighter. Extra modes like team battle and time attack rarely get played (I'm honestly surprised survival made it in), and didn't Super SF4 cut time attack and survival for minigames? I personally get my jollies by fighting other players, and to me, it doesn't matter too much as long as the fighting is good. The focus is way more on the fighting side this time, and it shows.
Again, I understand your concerns, ironically enough it does seem lacking for the casual crowd, but as a pure fighter and with that focus, it probably works.
How do Ken! Lol! That's funny stuff right there!
I'll be keeping an eye on this one, I hope they have a good training mode. I tried getting into IV, but couldn't figure out combos for the life of me.
I'll be going back and forth between this and Killer Instinct.
@sinalefa From what I have read yes it will be. It works with Street Fighter IV on the PS4 as well.
@MitchVogel This one is suppose to be alot friendly for casual and new players.

The 2013 financial report key q and a. You may not be aware of this but Capcoms stock has doubled in value over the last few years It also mentions deep down and monster hunter and we all know what's happened since then. It also explains why they have less games out on console these days and its not down to not having the money. Capcom believe pc and mobile games to be more lucrative (this has obviously altered a touch with ps4 now doing so well) so no they could of easily afforded sf v.
I got the beta for this I'm not really a fighting game fan but its still pretty fun
The beta is really fun can't wait.
@themcnoisy They might well have done but clearly Street Fighter wasn't a priority in terms of where their budgets were going. Sony saw an opportunity and took it, worth remembering that Adam Boyes used to work for Capcom so it's quite possible he had insider knowledge too.
@adf86 That I do agree with, I just don't accept bare bones games for £50. It's the way the industry is heading. I've delved a little deeper and the main roll call seems to be maximum 18 month development periods, were talking less time than a blockbuster film development here and big games are yielding a bigger profit and the big earners don't earn as much as film stars or top directors. Its really frustrating. We are being hoodwinked - just like the early 90s with £15 cd albums.
@Tasuki They haven't actually said it will. They said they'd "look into it" months ago, even though there's nothing at all to look into. They either use the Lab Zero drivers like the did with Ultra or they don't.
However, when you consider that they've partnered with Mad Catz to make controllers that cost £50 each (as well as an arcade stick that costs £200), it all becomes a lot clearer why they seem to have forgotten to use the Lab Zero drivers this time.
I just bought a Hori Fighting Commander controller for £35 instead. It works with both PS3 and PS4 and is made by a company who are widely considered better than Mad Catz by the fighting game community.
@themcnoisy It's £42, £38 on PC. It's also not the way the industry is heading at all, the industry has been heading away from that if anything. Street Fighter II on the SNES cost £65 for 8 characters and just had Arcade mode and local VS. That's over £100 if you adjust for inflation. This is less than half of that for double the characters, more modes and online. So let me reiterate that, the way the industry has headed is to half the price of a game with over double the content.
When you say things like "this is the way the industry is heading" it would make sense if you'd actually looked at where the industry has come from.
@Matroska @Tasuki
Thanks for the input. Release date is not that far away so we will see.
@themcnoisy
Unless Sony refuses, I still feel that Capcom will make more complete versions of this in the future, like they have done to every numbered SF since II. Ono has lied and contradicted in the past so I dont believe a word he says now.

It was £20 on the Amiga......
The cart sf2 launched on was the biggest they had used upto that point on the snes and was also at the bleeding edge of graphics tech at the time. I'm not condoning the prices and Nintendo was found guilty In a court of law of price fixing with retail. Everyone who writes about a cartridge based game - the same game was £15-£25 on the Amiga or PC if made available. Games at the time were also more rare, less specialist shops were on the highstreet and far less copies sold due to piracy and the stigma about gaming back during those times. Which also goes someway to explain the inflated prices.
Sf2 is a good example and I agree the model they used back then was wrong, but media and consumers by the time alpha was produced had enough of buying the same game and the series although released in various guises never had the same levels of success as the original sf2 releases - that was until sf4 released. That was because of the crazy business model.
As I mentioned before - I have little voice in moaning about the business strategies of money men making decisions about selling a mode separately - in the end who really cares? I do but it seems I'm in the minority.
@sinalefa absolutely - I'm waiting for the second or third iteration.
@themcnoisy At least the game will be better then the C64 version of SFII, had to wait 15 minutes between each fight
@adf86 haha, Yeah that was grim. Don't miss cassettes at all. Discs were tons better.
I get any game physical where possible and I really don't understand why digital prices are more at launch then their physical version
oh my... there are so many great games in Feb!
I don't know if getting physical or digital. To be honest, swapping cartridges seemed easier than swapping discs, but discs take up little space and are much cheaper than digital games! Besides, I couldn't buy many games at full price.
