Our very own Alex Stinton is currently engaged in some rather rigorous Jedi training, but he informs us that he'll be using his newfound powers to bring you a review of Star Wars Battlefront as soon as possible. In the meantime, we figured that it would be fun to gauge your opinion on the first-person shooter – after all, it's out right now in both North America and Europe.
The game's received a mixed critical response thus far; reviewers appear to be enamoured with the package's presentation, but it sounds like it may suffer from a case of style over substance. With the planet currently gripped by force fever, though, we suspect that one or two of you will have picked up the title regardless – so what do you think?
Are you enjoying the frantic arcade face-offs thus far, or is it proving shallower than a sci-fi shower? Have the visuals impressed you, or is it the audio that's really caught your attention? Do you anticipate that you'll be returning to this title regularly, or are you already itching to continue your adventure in Fallout 4? Point a DH-17 blaster pistol at the comments section and let us know.

Beta was beyond crap... So nobody cares. DICE died as good developer under EA.
My hype for this died after the beta. I was not impressed at all. This trend of online-only experiences really needs to end.
I've just finished work early so plan to get on it for the first time very soon!
I haven't yet played the game as it only arrived around an hour ago - the UK release date is today so I doubt many EU players have had the opportunity.
I do have my doubts over its longevity but I do expect to get more hours from it than some other AAA games so I guess it could work out as better 'value' in terms of cost per hour. I know that isn't always an indication of a quality or deep and meaningful experience, but it is an indication of 'value' - after all if its a very short lived experience due to poor quality (after all you are unlikely to want to play a game that isn't fun or working well) or its 'finished' in a very short time, it does work out as comparatively 'expensive'.
I can't generally justify paying £40+ for a few hours of game time when I cay spend that much for a game that I can play for many many hours, months even.
The problem with MP only based games, are they are much more dependent on the community. Even an average MP/co-op game can be a lot of fun with friends. This affected Titanfall a lot. As people moved on, the quality of the experience dropped - It didn't help that there was so little variation in that experience and also felt unrewarding to progress.
This does have a lot of appeal though to Star Wars fans as well as FPS fans too but I still have concerns over its longevity. Time will tell....
I bought the game and i'm looking forward to it but i'm expecting a very casual FPS, still not decided on the season pass yet.
Wow 91% haven't played it yet, maybe do a survey after Christmas to get a better picture. I loved the beta and will grab this in a sale....
@blah01 Haha, I assumed more people would have played it by now. Article backfire! Nah, I'm sure the poll will change a bit when some of the Americans join us.
When i buy, i want a game for my money. I want to own the game. I want to play it at my pace for my pleasure. I dont want a glorified £50 ticket to play a shared game on a server far far away, full of elite players, where i get shot dead in the back every single time i spawn. I love starwars but this multiplayer only mould is destroying the industry
I've logged about 5 hours so far but I'm enjoying it
I pre-ordered thinking it would be on the standard of Battlefield games. Then the Beta arrived, I played for under an hour and was dismayed by so many things, especially the extra life pop-ups (WTF??) I cancelled the pre-order.
The extra half ton bung was also way more than what I was willing to pay.
My wife and I were super pumped about the game and then we played the Beta for like an hour before getting bored with it. Just wasn't what we thought. Also, not having a co-op campaign mode really killed it for us (same for Halo 5, won't be getting that either).
Ultimately, I am not an online player for most games. I really wish their was more couch co-op games out there with a solid story line. Instead, we are stuck taking turns with 1-player games.
Season pass lol its a pay wall for 50% of the game.
@get2sammyb
Oh yes, ahhh to have time and money....wish I was playing it now, gotta finish the Witcher first....
Should have had an option for "Played the beta - Saved £50"
I really want to play this game, but the whole add on content fiasco has really been off putting.
Played the beta, looked great, lacked any depth. Plus holding back parts of the game behind a season pass is just taking the p!$$ out of gamers!
Seems like a great waste of a massive licence.
Would have loved a single player/co-op experience.
Im sure it will sell, well but only because it's propbably on a lot of kids Christmas list.
I was really hyped for this game but after playing the beta my hype died down a bit, then I watched some streams of it on Twitch and Youtube Gaming and cancelled my preorder.
Very disappointed by it it would have been a good mod for Battlefield 4 but a whole game. EA was praying on two things to make it a seller
1. People's nostalgia for the older games
2. Hype from the recent movie.
Don't get me wrong though the graphics are gorgeous but gameplay....
Honestly I rather play Black Ops III.
@get2sammyb I honestly do not think the hype is there for this game. My friend went to the midnight launch at GAME and compared to F4 and COD it was dead! Either everyone had it sent in the post or are not bothering. £45-50 is a lot of money (imo) for a multi-player only game. I will be waiting for this to hit EA Access on my X1 as I have a wasteland to explore!
I think EA have rushed this game - I think EA asked DICE when will it be ready and they said "not before the movie" and this panicked EA. The season pass says it all :/
@Tasuki this is what I did. As soon as the BETA was over I cancelled my preorder
@ZeD Yeah I almost did but I wanted to see the full game before I made my decesion, that's why I watched some streams.
Leave it to EA to ruin another franchise.
It's a game that I would play at some point and probably will in the future, but I feel like if I miss it, I won't miss much. It's a game I want to be good, but it's just another multiplayer shooter to me at this point. And there's enough of those. I'd rather have a good Star Wars game than another multiplayer game that they expect to stay active when you COD, Halo and Battlefield as it is!
Played a good bit and I've enjoyed it thus far.
@get2sammyb this American has always been amongst you all xD
@ZeD well it does have offline play as well, in fact, one of the modes is very much like Instant action where you (Or you with a buddy via split screen) can play against the AI. And I'm not just talking about the survival mode.
I still hope to get this for christmas, but I haven't bought it solely because of the season pass price.
@B3ND3R what I would have liked is an offline campaign mode (ie Halo/Killzone) as well as the online mode. I know that not all single player campaigns are great for FPS but it would at least change things up a little?
@Tasuki I had access to a 10 hour trial on my X1 and after 2 hours on the full game I made my mind up. Like you say, it is a real shame. This is be the next Titanfall.
I LOVE it! Haven't put it down since... Oh wait, this article isn't about Fallout 4?
@Totaldude911

Am quite enjoying so far. But I can see it getting stale soon. And theres no chance in hell of me paying the same money for a damned season pass.
EA are going to bleed money, 4 billion dollars, silly, let's hope visceral games make something better. EA isn't going to shift their hopeful 20 million copies.
@ZeD Lol yeah I can see that. The only problem with this game vs Titanfall is its praying on those who enjoyed the first two Battlefront games and Star Wars fans in general. Where as Titanfall was an unknown IP. But yeah once the next great FPS game comes out this game will be forgotten like Titanfall.
I've been sick so I haven't been able to pick up my copy I'm going to try and get it today
@seanobi Haha dat smells stinkowiff.
Love it I don't, Strong the force in times but the game of EA and Dice the force is pained it is. Emporer of EA came and struck down DICE to finish the beta and released it in that state they did. Crying they were. The beta was really an alpha it was. (this is possibly my best attempt at Yoda....) So concentrate and buy Disgaea 5 instead young padawan.
I love it so far! It's a great game gameplay wise and graphics wise! All the issues have been fixed to make it tougher and spawn camping fixed. There's lots of variety in the maps/ game modes to mix it up! The problems though: character customisation is not enough... And only 6 hero's/ villians. Got to say its really fun especially when you have Bobba Fett or Vader! Don't see what the hate about this is? It's similar to a Cod/ Battlefield game, and Battlefront never had much of a story... Battlefield and Cod is the same thing over, similar to this!
I have now played this for a few hours. I tried the five 'Solo' training missions and also the wave based 'mission' on Tattooine before jumping into quite a few matches of the MP. My initial impression is that its OK for what it is. Visually its certainly a delight - from the glistening snow on Hoth to the evergreen and lush jungles of Endor and the majority of the audio is excellent too. It certainly does a great job of recreating the 'Star Wars' universe.
It does enough to distinguish itself from Battlefield in its HUD and obviously the 'card' set up as well - even the mini-map is different too in the way it works. The 3rd Person perspective also helps. However the animations - particularly the way enemies die and the pacing of the character movement feels straight out of Dices military series.
Its still early days for me and there are a number of MP modes I have yet to play. The problem though from my perspective is that the content it does have feels very similar. There doesn't seem to be enough rewards for playing either. Both CoD and BFgive you a lot of rewards for playing, whether that's some customisation (character, weapon, attachments, camo's emblem/badges etc) item or a new weapon to play with. SW:BF just gives you credits and whilst there are a few items to unlock (if you have enough), its not the same 'drive' to try and get another 10 headshots for a camo or go up another level to unlock a certain weapon. I know its a little difficult to have too much customisation when creating a game on a franchise - you are tied a bit to keeping to the imagery of the films. Its not like Han Solo is going to have a purple and pink tiger stripe camo on his blaster!
I think its OK as an MP though but with a plethora of other games that feel more rewarding and fun, offer a much deeper experience, I can't see it lasting the distance. Its a good and polished game in what there is but unless Dice builds on this quickly (and I don't mean via DLC) then I feel the community will drop off quickly. When that happens the game will be difficult to play. As it stands at the moment, I cannot justify buying any DLC let alone the Season Pass.
Im loving it so far , its such a positive thing that they haven't added a stupid tacked on single player campaign like in Battlefield and just concentrated on making a fantastic multiplayer experience. Hopefully more developers of online fps games will copy their visionary thinking , wonderful game.
"The Return of the Greedy EA"
Great visuals and sound engineering but in truth the game is nothing more a pig in lipstick, its weak boring and its
essentially $60 for walker assault and gets boring quickly once the honeymoon period wears off in no time and the game has
the depth of a teaspoon with so little content for such a high price so inevitably it will have the longevity of a few
weeks.
If you buy the deluxe edition for $120 (ROTFLMAO) you get a few more maps and you get some stupid character taunt actions
and you deal more damage with the ion grenade!!! WTF! worthy of a boycott alone for sure.
Luckily I played it on xboxone 10 hour trial at my mates and canceled my preorder from PS4 store when i got home.
There is no Campaign Galactic Conquest or Instant action game modes, No Space battles (the flying vehicles have the some
of the worst controls I've ever experienced, they handle like shopping carts) and sky battles are badly controlled.
There is an insulting "season pass' which should have been in the full game for free which costs almost as much as the
base game itself. They have given us no idea as to what is contained in any of the 4 planned DLC packs.
EA should try to save some credibility and release the first three planned DLC releases free to all and the last one
charge no more than $10
Graphics: 10/10
Sound: 10/10
Gameplay: 4/10
Content: 3/10
Overall: 6 - and would be a lot lower overall score if not for the stunning graphics and top sound engineering, these guys
are wasted here with this cynical ca$h grabbing lot.
Summery: - The Farce is strong with this one.
OH this is online only ?? Guess I'll pass then.... smh
hmm I was hugely disappointed by the beta - I expected much much more
But I will still get it just because all of my clan friends get it and it will surely be fun for a few hours or so
But its obvious that Black Ops 3 has a far far more valueable overall package on offer - oh and btw its the first double exp weekend
Its a shame that Battlefront is so lacking in content obviously - I expected a campaign, but I assume EA saves up some features and modes for the sequel ...
Not a big fan of multiplayer but am a big Star Wars fan.
I LOVE it
Not missing a single player campaign. They always get criticised in games which are mostly for multiplayer anyway.
Season pass is pricey but I'll either buy individually as and when I can afford it or wait for a deal.
So much negativity for every game released these days it seems but it's fun, no issues with servers and Dice have done an excellent job of making the game feel like Star Wars.
Good game I doubt i'll be buying the season pass but it's a fun game glad they ditched the campaign to focus more on online only, couch coop and SP campaign's were fun before the internet was invented and let's face it they would of screwed it up anyway and give the hater's more reason to slate it, it's fun and online is the future, get used to it I ticked the need more time to play it as other than that it was either burn it or I absalooootly love it, i'm inbetween.
