Who didn't see this one coming? Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has tiptoed straight into number one here in the UK following its launch on the 1st September. Equally unsurprising is that 72 per cent of the stealth-'em-up's sales were on the PlayStation 4. However, Kojima's latest didn't sell quite well enough to beat the week one records set byBatman: Arkham Knight and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt earlier in the year.
Meanwhile, Mad Max skidded into second place, signalling yet another solid start for a Warner Bros. release, and Sony exclusive Until Dawn, which previously debuted in second, dropped down into fourth. Needless to say, the rest of the top ten makes for pretty predictable reading, but it'll be interesting to see how things chop and change now that we're edging closer to the launch of many a blockbuster title.
What have you been buying recently? Did you sneak into The Phantom Pain with Big Boss by your side, or are you saving your money for the holiday onslaught? Let us know in the comments section below.

No surprise there then haha
And very deserving.
Well deserved and the best game this gen so far, oh and Until Dawn still above Disney Infinity, now that's interesting.
@carlos82 I suppose there's a chance Disney Infinity will continue to sell well when Star Wars comes out - just in time for the holidays. Have to imagine a lot of kids are going to want it for Christmas. Either way, we'll probably be seeing it stick in the charts for a while yet.
Still, good to see Until Dawn staying near the top. That game's gotta be selling on word of mouth - people haven't stopped talking about it since it released.
@ShogunRok It'll definitely be there for a while and will sell better when the new film and figures based on the good Star wars films come out rather than the shocking prequels. Though I do wonder if the bubble has burst for these things, I mean you have to spend close to £300 to unlock all your levels and characters to what is at best an average game. Rant over ☺
Oh and Until Dawn is amazing, best exclusive so far
I am very glad to see this. A couple years ago, anybody I asked about Metal Gear Solid would just shrug their shoulders. Made me fear for this game's popularity.
I'm glad to see Mad Max in at #2. I'm having a blast with it.
I knew mgs would be #1. Glad to see until dawn selling in 4th!
72%?! Oh my, poor Xbox...
@carlos82 bloodborne still holds best exclusive for me personally
@carlos82 that's a massive assumption, the new sw film could be terrible.
Spoke to loads of people were the previous metal gears have put them off buying 5 - go buy it the games brilliant.
@themcnoisy What assumption? I never commented on the quality of the new film, the good films I was referring to are the original trilogy. Either way even if it is terrible they'll still sell a ton of merchandise, Phantom Menace did and that was shocking 😃
Like you I've a few friends who weren't keen on past Metal Gears and I personally never played 3 and didn't get into 4 but absolutely love this one and have sold at least one friend on getting it.
Oh and I love the irony of Kojima's special skill.
@carlos82 sorry man read your comment wrong.
Yes your right star wars will sell loads of merchandise.
@themcnoisy No worries.
Have fun with the game
It's not a real top 10 they don't include digital sale's, everyone I play with bar one person buy 90% of their game's digitaly including me so these chart's really are a waste of money, it's totally inacurate.
All I care about is FALLOUT 4. Never mind no 1 in the top 10.Fallout 4 will be GOTY for alot of critics.
