The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth PS4 PlayStation 4 1

The developer of The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, Edmund McMillan, has today announced on his Twitter that the massive DLC called Afterbirth will launch on the PlayStation 4 and Vita at the end of the year.

For those of you who have been locked in a dungeon for the past few months, this huge expansion – which could have been a sequel – adds hundreds of hours of gameplay to an already enormous title, adding new items, rooms, combos, enemies, bosses, Trophies, and a new character.

The main additions in Afterbirth are Daily Runs and the all new Greed mode. In Daily Runs, you will be tasked with scoring as many points as possible in an attempt to be the best among both your friends and the rest of the world. As a totally new addition, the scoring system counts up the longer that you are alive and points are lost for every extra item picked up but its increased for every floor cleared, which adds a huge tactical element to the title.

On the other hand, the new Greed mode changes the way that you play the game entirely, making it a survival-style experience where enemies come in waves. You are put in a room with a button in the middle and once pressed waves of enemies will keep spawning until you hit the button again. Each enemy you kill will drop money which you can spend in the shop on health, keys, or items to become more powerful. This risk versus reward style is a very interesting switch up on the normal game, and we can't wait to try it out.

Update (13th December, 2015): The add-on has been delayed into 2016. You can find more information through here.
