Seeing as Fallout 4's wasteland is, well, you know, a bit barren, we suppose its inhabitants have generally got a lot of free time on their hands. And when the world outside of your tin shack is packed with things just waiting to eat you alive, spending a lot of that free time chatting to other doomed souls probably seems like a good idea. As such, it's perhaps no surprise that the upcoming post-apocalyptic adventure's got an absolute truckload of spoken dialogue.
Bethesda's confirmed via Twitter that the blockbuster's script features over 111,000 lines, so you can expect plenty of character building exercises as you make use of the game's all-new, fully voiced dialogue system. The developer also pointed out that there's more dialogue here than in Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim combined - so let's hope that the studio's hired more than eight voice actors this time around, eh?
Joking aside, it's clear that Bethesda's trying to pursue a stronger narrative with its latest project, and we can't wait to see what sort of dark comedy it's managed to cook up this time around.
Is Fallout 4 right at the top of your most wanted list, or is your hype gently simmering as we move into the holiday rush? Go off like a nuke in the comments section below.

Hopefully really stupid Super Mutant dialogue is back. Used to love sneaking around listening to them say crazy stuff.
This game is gonna be epic. Say adios to my social life for a few months
absolute top of my list by miles! even if bethesda didnt care about their fans the game would still turn out pretty damn awesome but it really seems like they are giving it their all for the fans. this is going to be fallout on a whole other level!!! i cant wait!!! HYPE LEVEL EXPLODING NUKE LIKE!!!
I'm letting everyone else beta test this. I'm sure it will be great after many patches.
If you can't tell I'm still upset about Skyrim on PS3...
@Splat i feel like i was in rare air with skyrim on ps3, on a 600hr save i never once noticed anything crazy other than that time i decided to tangle with a giant and got sent flying across the map. In contrast, i was only 15 or so hours into a 360 save i had beforei encountered a dragon stuck in a wall in winterhold. To this day, some 4-500 hours on that save the skeleton still ragdolls around inside that wall, tail waving about to and fro. My cousin had a hilarious glitch involving a dragon skeleton that would follow him from area to area, loading in with him into dungeons. Buildings. Etc. Long story short, i still cant wait for fallout, i got lucky and was able to preorder the pip boy edition. So stoked.
Is the main protagonist voiced in this one? I always prefer it if they are.
@ApostateMage they are. You get to choose what they say. And I'm ok about buying it right away. If it has glitches, it'll add to the fun
I agree with the article, I do hope they hire more voice actors. Oblivion stands out as one of the most immersion-breaking games when I literally spoke to 3 people in one area and they all had the exact same voice. Hell, they could even change voice after their main dialogue, when you would get the random lines from talking to them again.
I think this will be great. More voice actors is very good news.
On a related note, the GOTY is going to be a tight race this year. Lots of fantastic games.
Doom is top of my list. Cannot wait.
I have took an arrow to the knee. Hahaha. More acting is essential to take it to the next level.
@BigDaddyT0101 - My biggest problem with Skyrim on PS3 was it froze on me more then any game I have played in my life. It only did it from time to time in-till I hit 100 hours. After a 100 hours it became unplayable.
I probably would have played another 100 hours or more if it would have let me.
I was thinking the same thing about more voice actors than Skyrim lol. With all the ways they're expanding Fallout, I wonder what the next Elder Scrolls will be like.
