Okay, so we're getting Yakuza 5 in the near future, but there's one problem: it's exclusive to the PlayStation 3. Now, before you say it, no, we're not next-gen snobs, but we are worried that when the title inevitably sells close to bugger all, Sony won't bother funding the localisation of another one.
And that's going to be a real kicker, because the next Yakuza game is going to be announced at the Tokyo Game Show. The above image states a date - which just so happens to be the same day as Sony's TGS press conference - and Gematsu has discovered that its file name is button-new_title.jpg. In other words, this is almost definitely happening.
Will we ever see a PlayStation 4 Yakuza title make its way overseas? Call out for Kiryu in the comments section below.

Well crap... I sold my PS3 long ago to a repair person when the disc tray gave out. It was shortly after Uncharted 3 came out. I really like Yakuza, but I can't myself buying a PS3 again for it. I already havea PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, and PC. I honestly don't see this selling well in the west at all. One can hope though.
Probably won't unless Yakuza 5 does fairly well, and with it being last gen game, it probably won't
I would like a collection of the series on PS4.
Can someone please remind me why Y5 is coming to PS3 and not 4?
Even a straight, non- upgraded port would be better on PS4 right? At least to sell alongside the PS3 version?
Well I dont rule out Yakuza 5 Remastered On PS4. By now remasters are the rule, not the exception.
For those who would like a bit more info, the Famitsu article - which made Gematsu look into this, @ShogunRok - doesn't say there's a new game coming per se. It's about the tenth anniversary of the series. A remake is suggested more than a new game. Toshihiro Nagoshi is very coy with his words (being able to speak/read Japanese without Google Translate helps) but he suggests it's something looking back yet forward, not something only forward. That to me screams remake. Could be wrong, of course. But it's what he says. The date, by the way, is also the same day Sega host one of their several TGS presentations.
Really excited about going there. My wallet isn't, so much Sega merchandise is going to be spent. That's if we get in though, there's a lot of places to go in Tokyo in just one week.
@Dodoo Sega are allergic to money. See there stupidity in not re-releasing Shenmue (Dreamcast's are selling again as people want the two games) or around thirty other games and franchises that have just been left to rot. I've spent nearly £250 on getting Panzer Dragoon Saga for the Saturn when it should be on PSN/Xbox Live/eShop/Steam for everyone to enjoy, especially as not many people have seen it, let alone played it.
@rastamadeus lol, yeah it does sadly seem Sega are allergic to money! I feel Nintendo can be like that sometimes too!
Makes you wonder why some executives at these companies get paid so much for making (or not making in this case) crazy decisions.
@Dodoo Nintendo at least throw scraps and have games such as Smash Bros which let forgotten gems have a moment in the sun. But Sega? Good lord, the amount of games they've just left for dead is staggering.
@rastamadeus True and other games they have kept going have been run into the ground. Poor Sonic!
