Good news for fans of Geoff Keighley: the popular presenter's Game Awards will return this December. Potentially piggybacking off the news about PlayStation Experience, the Canadian host confirmed the tidbit on the event's official Twitter account, promising that more information will be revealed "very soon".
Last year's show marked the first time that it had been organised independently, and it was a huge improvement on previous years – even if it ran a little long. With a tighter schedule and a little less filler, this definitely has the potential to be a compelling celebration for games. We're looking forward to seeing what Keighley's got planned.

Bring back Joel McHale
@Anchorsam_9
@get2sammyb So much chemistry
Ok who is this guy and why such a big deal? I only know him as one of the hosts for Blizzconn's Virtual Ticket.
@Anchorsam_9 I'm impressed by Keighley's wardbrobe. Grey t-shirt, black shirt, grey jumper, black leather jacket. It's like a magic eye puzzle.
@get2sammyb Not sure if it can beat Phil Spencer's suit jacket and game-themed t-shirt combo though
@Anchorsam_9 I hated that guy, he was awful.
I want to see a proper Oscar like awards - this show was horrendous, an absolute joke.
@themcnoisy It was a trainwreck on par with Sony's 2006 E3 show. At least I knew what was going on in the Sony one
@Tasuki I wouldn't say he's a big deal, but draws more spiteful comments than he probably deserves. He used to host GameTrailers TV but he's a bit of a free spirit now. He organised the VGAs for Spike TV, but since they dropped it he decided to do it on his own, which is where The Game Awards comes from.
He's actually a really good writer and a very good host and interviewer in my opinion. For my money, he's the best in the games industry, but not everyone agrees...
@themcnoisy I went to Rezzed earlier this year which played host to the BAFTA Game Awards, which is probably the closest thing to Oscars that games has right now (aside from maybe the Golden Joysticks?)
It was pretty classy!
Also, I unironically love Doritos.
GEOFF!
GEOFF!
Yay.... Last time I watched this, Joel McHale was co-host and was just sooooooooo enthusiastic about being there......
Oh good, maybe we can see another 18 seconds of Zelda U, and watch guys discuss which game is com ing out first - Star fox or Zelda U - b/c probably neither wI'll be out yet.
If I'm Co fusing this with some other show, then nevermind.
I love McHale, but clearly he was the wrong choice for it a couple of years back.
This is gonna be another one of those 'hide until it's all over and then watch all the trailers on YouTube' events, isn't it?
