Love it or hate it, Dynasty Warriors is here to stay for the foreseeable future. Koei Tecmo's hack and slash franchise has always been a big hit in Japan, while also managing to gather a loyal audience here in the West. Today, the series celebrates its 15th year on the market, and the publisher's dished out a rather nostalgic trailer for the occasion.

Believe it or not, Dynasty Warriors began life as a one-on-one fighting game before moving on to the one-on-one-thousand formula that we know now. Dynasty Warriors 2 started that trend, which released on this day back in 2000 on the PlayStation 2.

It's been going for a reasonably long time, then, but as always, there's word of yet another title in the works. "As we meet the 15th anniversary this year, a new project in the Dynasty Warriors series has begun. We're still preparing to be able to deliver information to everyone, so please wait for a bit now," producer Akihiro Suzuki posted on the property's official website, kindly translated by Gematsu.
