Another year, another ludicrously expensive special edition for a Call of Duty game. However, 2015's entry is slightly more interesting, as, alongside the usual tat, it will come packed with a working Call of Duty: Black Ops III themed mini-fridge. Yes, you read that correctly - a working Call of Duty: Black Ops III themed mini-fridge.
While we suspect that this frivolous freezer is intended to house copious cans of Mountain Dew, we'd likely need a much stiffer drink after plonking down the gargantuan asking price. Indeed, the pricey package is currently listed at $289.99 New Zealand dollars, which is roughly £127 or $195 US dollars. Splutter.

Fridge,... I prefer drone from black ops 2
$290 new Zealand dollars, 195usd(roughly £127)...so that means the real price here in uk will be £195
Yeah £127 is not actually expensive though is it? From the store the game and season pass will be £90 probably so £37 for a mini fridge that looks like a juggernog machine is not really that much at all. Im not even a cod fanboy but that is actually a good deal. A standard mini fridge from argos is about £30 anyway
That fridge does look cool!! LOL
However I am going to upgrade my pre-order to the Hardened edition...
@Jambo4170 Its £180 at Game!
@BAMozzy oh ok really? I was replying to the article saying that £127 is a crazy amount of money, which it isnt.
These special packs are getting worse. I would like a special pack for £40 which includes an instruction book. @Jambo4170 £127 is a lot of money for a game and a load of tat which you only look at once.
@Jambo4170 For £127 I would be tempted myself but don't the Americans have to pay tax on top of that price? teknium did say its likely to be £195 here even though the conversion would be around £127...
@themcnoisy its a fridge....you don't look at them, you put food or drinks in them! btw love the idea of a "manual edition", please don't tell publishers you'd pay for one though, knowing the controls will end up being a pre order bonus lol
@BAMozzy im not sure how much tax the US charge on games, definitely nowhere near us in the uk though! Yeah I didn't see tekniums post, guess kell wasn't stating the actual retail price, thought it was crazy low, wasn't the remote control camera car one £250?!
@Jambo4170 I thought the RC car one was around £150. Even the Care Package edition wasn't over £200 with the flying drone.
I'll buy the cheap a55 bog standard video game. You know the one that gives me the game and only the game. I'm a video gamer not a collector of tat and junk. I don't buy into any of this junk ever. Video games are a massive industry I know, I however prefer just to game.
With all the addons, dlc, season passes and exclusive contents etc on every new release gaming is already getting way too expensive to enjoy the full game storyline nevermind filling my house up and emptying my wallet with junk.
@BAMozzy oh ok fair enough. You know, actually looking at the special edition items, cod actually does pretty well! Drone, rc car, juggernog mini fridge, more interesting than the usual figurine! Maybe that would be an interesting article push square, all the most interesting items from special editions over the years.
@Jambo4170 I think so too. The last 'prestige' edition I bought though was [email protected] and that came with a 'hip flask' although unusable.Apart from MW2 and Black Ops, I have bought at least the Hardened edition of every CoD since CoD4. I have no desire to have an RC Car, Drone, Night Vision goggles or tactical camera and certainly not spending over £100 on these.
@xMEADx Anyone who wants access to specific collectors editions and bonuses I guess. The only place to buy the 'Juggernog' edition in the UK is Game - same as they were the only place selling the Ghost Edition of Destiny and many of the other collectible editions.
£100 (give or take) is not bad for a custom working mini fridge with lights and sounds and considering the whole perk-a-cola system of Zombies in CoD it does at least tie in. I think its a better offer than Titanfalls giant Titan statue that does nothing really or Destiny's Ghost. At least this has practical uses.
There are a LOT of collectible editions that have collectibles costing more than the game. Arkham Knight was due to have a Batmobile, Witcher 3 had a Gerralt Statue, Destiny had a Ghost, etc etc and funnily enough ALL were sold out well in advance of the game releasing.
There is now way they'll give this to any UK citizen for 127 quid, 140 would be an absolute minimum
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi As I have already stated its £180 and only being sold at Game. It means the Fridge is less than £100 as the game is around £45 and Season Pas is £40
That's really not a bad price since you're getting a fridge with your game. I mean, it depends on whether you need a fridge, but if you do, it's not exactly a bad way to go.
Comparing the price of the Hardened edition to the cost of the Juggernog Edition, the difference is £110. As the Season Pass is likely to be £40 that means the Fridge is going to cost £70...
I caved in and upgraded my pre-order to the Hardened edition... The extra Zombie map (remake of Die Reise) and steelbook may not be worth the extra in value but I couldn't help myself - Not going for the Fridge version though as I want to buy other games in Nov....
