After a brief hiatus for E3 2015 and various holidays, we're bringing Out This Week back with a vengeance. With the sun currently scorching the UK – seriously, it's been baking here the past few days – you may be dreading the impending summer drought, but things are actually looking quite fruitful here on Planet PlayStation. Sure, there's nothing quite in the league of a Batman: Arkham Knight on the immediate horizon – but Rocket League should keep you more than occupied over the coming months anyway.
Pick of the Week: Rocket League
This author was always a big fan of the ludicrously named Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars on the PlayStation 3, but Rocket League looks like it's going to bring the football-meets-vehicles series to a mainstream audience. An adaptation of soccer that can be enjoyed by everyone – even you contrary Americans – the title sees you controlling remote controlled cars through beautiful stadiums, attempting to bunt a gigantic beach ball into your opponent's goal.
While it's a simple premise, Psyonix has really nailed the gameplay loop; lightning fast matchmaking times, tight controls, and plenty of depth make this one of the most addictive multiplayer games on the PlayStation 4. And don't worry if you're a single player person at heart, because a new league-based campaign promises to bolster the roster of offline options. Oh, and Sweet Tooth's in as an added exclusive for PlayStation fans. Olé, olé, olé, olé!

Geometry Wars for...Vita?! Awww yeah
@audiobrainiac Indeed! It's actually a pretty good week!
@get2sammyb - "An adaptation of soccer that can be enjoyed by everyone – even you contrary Americans"....lol
Didn't "Our Women's League" just win the "World Cup" ....
Now we need to get our Men's team on board.....lol.
At first you said football and I'm thinking to myself, "isn't this game like soccer?" Then you said soccer and it all made sense. Yes I live in the US, but I love it when I'm chatting in a party with my UK friends and I call it soccer. Wow does that drive them insane
Will there be a review for the F1 game, interested to see what it's like.
Been super excited for Rocket League, and yesterday my internet decided it had had enough. It's still not working.
I want to download Rocket League
@RicksReflection Fair point. Dat Alex Morgan.
@adf86 There will be, yes. Unlikely to be this week, though, as we still haven't got the disc.
@Quintumply When you get it downloaded, add me on PSN.
Yes for Rocket League! Loving this game so much! Got a few friends with it which will be even more fun
@get2sammyb Will do Sammy, hopefully won't be out of action for too long
I am with @audiobrainiac on this one.
Would have liked to play some Rocket League tonight, but since PSN is screwed I played some Diablo 3 with the misses.
