Dragon Quest Builders was announced earlier this month, but we haven't had a chance to look at the game in action - until now. As you can probably tell, the title's taken inspiration from the evergreen Minecraft, as you smash, build, and craft your way through large, open worlds.
These three new screenshots from publisher Square Enix seem suitably interesting, showcasing classic Dragon Quest monsters and a bright, colourful art style. It's sure to sell like mad in its native Japan, especially since it's slated for release on all three of Sony's platforms: the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Vita.
Are you hoping that it comes West, or are you sick and tired of all things that resemble Minecraft these days? Build your thoughts in the comments section below.

WTH is this? I want it.
could be fun, I'll keep an eye out
This game is going to sell gangbusters in Japan. Absolute gangbusters.
@get2sammyb They need a Japan win so badly though, looking at the reports to date.
I'd probably buy it if it came West. Seems interesting enough to stand on its own.
"Minecraft like", that's just softening the fact it's a full on clone.
@Punished_Boss_84 very true. But I can't deny that I'm oddly attracted to this for some reason. And that's saying a lot since there is thousands of clones out there
Minecraft has never appealed to me but maybe this Dragon Quest themed version will. Hopefully there's a demo if it does come to the West.
@WanderingBullet me too. I could not get into Minecraft...but this sounds appealing to me.
@get2sammyb if only it was PS4 exclusive then the console would be saved
As much as I have enjoyed Minecraft over the years, it would be nice to see some graphics updates, more tools to create your own games. I know the PC has loads more options, but I'd like to see more brought over to console.
I have so many great ideas for my own game world, but unfortunately I am limited by the tools and lack of console mod support.
Maybe Dreams will help me to create the worlds I can imagine. On topic though, this game looks promising.
@get2sammyb For sure. Dragon Quest in Japan sells like Call of Duty in the states. I would buy this for sure. I've been playing Dragon Quest since it was Dragon Warrior on NES, and I am fond of minecraft.
@Punished_Boss_84 It's only Mine craft like b/c it is in fact a full on clone of Lego Worlds.
@rjejr
Clone Wars, it's a thing... Also known as Battle of The Clones.
Looks better than MC already. Never a fan of those ugly blocky characters. I mean even Lego figures look better than those.
Wait....What?? THIS LOOKS AMAZING!!! (throws money at computer screen)
I can dig it.
Get it? Dig? Because you can dig up blocks and- Shot repeatedly for horrible pun
This looks SO much better than Minecraft.
I want this game, and I want it now.
Read that Dragon Quest XI is currently in development for home consoles and it'll be offline only. Also, the 3DS is getting Dragon Quest VIII.
If this is as fun as Minecraft but in Dragon Quest style..oh my...
This looks incredible. I want it.
Can't believe I missed this! This looks awesome!!
