'The Matter of Family' is a slice of story-driven downloadable content for Batman: Arkham Knight, and in it, you play as Batgirl for the first time in Rocksteady's gloomy trilogy. Season pass owners can enjoy the add-on from the 14th July, while it'll be sold separately from the 21st July.
In any case, if your interest has been piqued, you'll probably want to check out the DLC's trailer, which pretty much gives you an overview of what you'll be doing. Are you looking forward to kicking the Joker's teeth in once again, or are you wary of Warner Bros' supposed six months of additional content? Don the cowl in the comments section below.

Seems like it only rains in Gotham these days
So the season pass gives us a batgirl (playable), harley quinn (playable), mat hatter, killer croc and bane prequel story dlc, a red hood (playable) sequel story dlc, a few skins, a few ar challenges and the addition of challenge maps where you can play as batman, catwoman, nightwing, robin (tim drake) and azrael and if you own the right dlc you can also play as batgirl, harley quinn and red hood.
It seems like the season pass is worth it's money, oh and how I know this, it was leaked because the information could be found in the pc files of arkham knight.
Cud they try make this one last considerably longer more than 10mins
I really hope this turns out to be good. Batgirl deserves a good story arc.
I still can't help feeling this isn't going to be as extensive as the Harley Quinns Revenge DLC for city and more like the Harley Quinn story in Arkham Knight. The video does seem to indicate that there isn't that much to the playable area and therefore likely to be a very short 1 off experience like the 'bonus' content. Disappointed its not made by Rocksteady too.
I doubt I will buy this on release. I might consider the 'Season Pass' once all the content has released although if the leaked contents are accurate, I very much doubt it.
Is the Batgirl DLC bing sold separately?
Oh, and Harley's back to her old design?
I saw on the leaked info that there is going to be some sort of smash challenge thing with the joker where you have to cause as much monetary damage as you can and the bill gets charges to Wayne enterprises! This sounds like it could be an interesting mode. I'm willing to consider the season pass once more of the DLC is released an it seems to be of a good quality.
@WanderingBullet Yes. All the DLC will be available to buy individually - I think this is around $6.99 (£5.79) and releases a week after season pass holders get it. If you want all the DLC it usually works out cheaper to buy the Season Pass and it looks like you get it a week earlier - however if you only want a few, then its better just to pick up the ones you want separately
I'll probably pick up the Season Pass as I love Arkhan Knight, it's ashame Rocksteady didn't make 'The Matter of Family', but there other Batman game wasn't as bad as some made out.
@BAMozzy
It works out to be less expensive if you get the season pass but reading up on what they're planning I really can't see how they came up with $40. None of it seems worth that much. By comparison The Witcher 3 is getting two massive expansions to an already massive game for $25. I think the pricing should've been reversed.
@Gamer83 They probably worked out that say 6 months worth at $7 works out at $42 so rounded down and offered an extra skin and 1 week earlier access would appeal more to the 'fans' and people interested in all the content. Its still a saving and you get a whole week of exclusivity as well as an Batman extra skin.
The Witcher 3 may have 2 expansion packs - compared to at least 6 (1 every month) DLC that combined costs a lot more than both those packs. Destiny had 2 Packs as well that cost more again (£35), CoD has 4 packs that cost £12 each or a Season Pass for £40 (saving £8).
Value is difficult - also consider these are digital so looking at Digital prices - I bet the smaller Witcher Pack lasts longer than the Order 1886 ($10 compared to $60. Maybe the combined duration of Batmans DLC could last longer too - if you want to get the highest scores in the challenges maybe more replay value if youu want to be the highest on the leaderboards....
The point is its relative. To you the six months of extra content with new storys, challenges etc a week before it gets sold isn't worth the money but to some one else it maybe. I would rather know a Season Pass is available than spend more on buying them all separately and run the risk of a season pass holder spoiling the story on the internet. The Witcher 3 packs could seem expensive compared to some Indie/Arcade games that are limitless as to how long they last if they have online MP options.
I bet these 'storys' cost more to make than a map or even several maps as they require scriptng, story boarding, concept art, voice recording, mo-capping etc etc and this cost less than Titanfall DLC packs did for just 3 maps.
@BAMozzy
All good points. And to be fair regarding the pricing, I'm actually glad the season pass exists, even if a bit pricey, because if all this content turns out to be better than I expect then I have no problem giving them the cash. Be lying if I said I'm not hoping for a late-summer, early-fall sale or something though. But with content coming out through December it's probably safe to assume there wouldn't be a sale until after the holidays.
@Gamer83 I must admit that from the outset I can't justify the cost of the Season pass - mainly because I don't believe that I will want all the content. However If I did though I would certainly buy a Season Pass. What a lot of people fail to see though is that the cost of Arkham City's DLC cost more than the price of Arkham Knights Season Pass so I didn't think it was 'expensive' more a case of not of interest.
I have never bothered with the Challenge Maps and haven't bothered with AR challenges in AK either. The majority I did as the cropped up in game as part of the side missions so if the DLC contained 'more' of these then it would be a waste of money to buy from my perspective. With City, the only DLC I bothered with was Harleys Revenge so spending 2-3 times more on a Season Pass (if they had one) for just that wouldn't make sense.
They have to sell a Season Pass before the first pack releases - you would be more annoyed if they offered it after you bought 1. However there is nothing that says you have to buy it and can wait until the last pack comes out (or gets offered in a sale - if it does) so you know exactly what it will entitle you too and whether or not its value is worth it.
Like I said though value is relative and individual. If I don't think a game/DLC etc. is worth the asking price, I either go without or wait until it reaches a price I am willing to pay. Its not always based on game time either - I am more willing to spend £40 on Uncharted 4 than £40 on Fallout 4 yet F4 will keep me gaming for many, many more hours...
the only things i don't like is the riddler races and forced tank battles other than that batman arkham knight on ps4 is my favorite batman game ever
i hope in the next batman arkham game in 2019 2020 u can free roam as not just batman but also knightwing red hood catwoman robin even azrael and have the batwing and batcylce for batman and knightwing and the batboat and also have the ability to go to arkham asylum arkham city wane manor the batcave and explore if this next game is called batman arkham beyond then it would and could have these ideas in a batman arkham game
it may be rocksteady's last batman arkham game with all these ideas but it can be the best batman game ever
@BAMozzy i'm on my 4th playthrough of batman arkham knight on ps4 on knightmare difficulty and it is still awesome to me
