Can't see the forest for the trees

Remember how The Unfinished Swan frequently introduced new mechanics – only to toss them out about an hour later? Giant Sparrow's pushing that idea further with What Remains of Edith Finch, a game which is all about the ancestry of an unusual family over time. The demo that the developer's showing at E3 2015 focuses on Molly Finch, who's searching for food to sate her appetite.

Bizarrely, you'll end up playing as an eagle, cat, and shark searching for prey – and this is just one of the many 'short stories' also featured in the title. It sounds utterly barmy, but the on-screen narration maintains that fairytale feel explored in the studio's previous game. Honestly, this sounds right up our alley – but it'll probably prove an acquired taste.
