The oddly named Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness got its first gameplay showing at Square Enix's E3 2015 press conference. The action role-playing game seems a little rough around the edges, but the developer stressed that a very early build of the release was on show.
Sporting some nicely crafted environments and some cool character designs, it's looking promising, and the on-stage presenter was keen to point out that the studio will be targeting 60 frames per second for the final product. What's more, the title's been given a slack 2016 Western release date.
How do you think it looks? Are you a fan or the franchise, or will this be your first foray into Star Ocean? Pull off outrageous team attacks in the comments section below.

Never played a Star Ocean game but they've always appealed to me. Hopefully you can jump into this one with no back knowledge, but I somehow doubt it..
Appeals to me a little more than KH3.
I think most of these are stand alone? Only played last hope, so not sure
@kyleforrester87 Yeah, they're generally standalone. They occur in the same setting but are more like different chronicles than a running story. Also, I seem to remember reading somewhere this is actually set first chronologically.
You could try emulating Star Ocean 3 on your PC. See what you think, though it may not be entirely fair since it's pretty old now. My personal impression was this reminds me more of that one than SO4, and SE seem to be using it as a touchstone as well, even down to the logo. I'll just say that if you don't like anime, or if anime stereotypes annoy you, you won't like them.
@kyleforrester87 @SeahorseLegs I believe they are to an extent. They take place in the same world but there's a different cast and timeline for every game. So there's probably some common lore but everything's different.
@Matroska @DerMeister Thanks guys. That's great to hear then. Dont think I'll bother trying to get it running on my desktop in case I wind up putting myself off for good - always a worry with some of these franchises being difficult to get into. I'll wait for some reviews and put down my £40 if it looks a safe bet!
I've played all the previous games in the series, like all the preivosu games in the series, adn can't recall a single thing that related any of the games in the series.
I'm sure I'll start it some day, not sure if I'll finsish it though, still halfway thru Arc Rise Fantasia, White Knight CHornciles 2, Darksiders 2, Tomb Raider reboot and Bioshock INfinite.
Looked empty
Gonna day-1 this, if I don't just pre-order it outright.
Wow! A party of 6!?
