Another blockbuster release, another rampant and potentially damaging technical discussion echoes across the internet. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was on the receiving end of a lot of praise yesterday when reviews from around the web went live, but all it took was one mention of the game sporting a supposedly choppy frame rate for people to go bonkers.
Indeed, a couple of publications have commented on the issue since, but CD Projekt Red, the studio behind Geralt's open world adventure, has apparently already fixed the issue. Writing on Twitter, community coordinator Marcin Momot states that "frame rate and performance have been improved" after a fan questioned him regarding the aforementioned technical problems.
Now, from what we gather, reviewers have been playing a PlayStation 4 debug version of the release, which could well represent a non-finished game in various ways. With any luck, when you lot get your hands on the title in just a few days, you'll be in for a smoother experience.
Have you been worried about these issues, or do you think that you'd enjoy the game regardless? Breathe a sigh of relief in the comments section below.

I think if the game has a choppy framerate people have a right to go bonkers. And it's not like it's hard to believe. Plenty of games have had framerate issues on PS4 and sometimes it happens that it runs like sh*t on PS4 compared to X1 which is absolutely unacceptable. If it turns out there's no issue, great, but I don't blame anybody who might be concerned.
Hope it works good for those getting it on release, I may pick it up in June all being well. Dunno though, still think it could use some more Chocobos!!
Sorta off-topic: I am so glad this game doesn't have pre-order bonus BS so I can actually get the game + all DLC whenever I want and not miss out.
Hopefully this does resolve any potential issues. The game has such potential and fingers crossed it lives up to that.
I'm not a graphics snob, just want the game to run smoothly.
@AyeHaley Yeah, it's quite refreshing isn't it?
if its 30 Frames or above its fine. As long as its steady. If it fluctuates every 2 seconds fro 60 to 45 to 30 to 60 to 30 to 45 though its bad.
I think its a shame that we're only 18 months into the eighth gen and the hardware is being pushed to its limits. Its only 30fps at 1080p. These systems should at least have been able to run AAA's at 60fps 1440p as standard. These systems are meant to last us ten years according to Sony and Microsoft, which I find ridiculous given the technology. I think we'll be lucky to get five years, unless both Sony and Microsoft push for game streaming services like PlayStation Now. I for one do not want gaming to souley go that route.
On topic though, I can't wait for this game. I just wish I knew which system it looks and performs best on as Im not sure which system to get it on as its going to be a day one purchase for me, PS4 or XB1?
@WARDIE All we really know so far is that the PS4 version is 1080p, while the Xbox One version employs some sort of dynamic resolution technique, meaning that it fluctuates around 900p, depending on how much it has to render on screen, I imagine. As for frame rate, both versions supposedly run at 30fps.
@WARDIE
Come back next year or the year after when game's are looking even better, then say the same thing. When did Sony say the PS4 will have a 10 year life cycle?, Sony said that with the PS3 which they said was too long towards the end.
Seeing as The Witcher 3 is the biggest Open-World game to-date, which I've seen the size of the map its unbelievable big, it real is the size of it is amazing. There was always going to be problems in development, but they've already fixed the frame rate issues. I hate frame-rate issues and thank god it was nothing like Skyrim which was a lot smaller.
This is good news. I hope they have it under control- that would be great.
Down grade it some more, problem solved
