They should make a movie: Not Another PlayStation 4 Remaster. Seriously, though, while Borderlands: The Handsome Collection may not include the first game in the series, it's looking like a pretty comprehensive package. Including both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, the real thing that should sell this set is the fact that it comes with every piece of DLC released so far. That's a lot of purple loot folks, but what are critics saying about the PS4 compilation?
Attack of the Fanboy - 4.5/5
Borderlands: The Handsome Collection combines one of the best games of the last generation and a worthy sidestep title in the same package. Boasting local four player split screen for the first time in the franchise history, the collection also provides players with every piece of DLC thus far with the smoothest console performance ever in the series. Costing the same or less than the Pre-Sequel and its Season Pass alone, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is the ultimate option for series veterans and newcomers alike.
Cheat Code Central - 4.5/5
That's really the golden thing about Borderlands: The Handsome Collection. It's just a great package. For newcomers to the franchise, as I said earlier, this is a great jumping on point. For the older fans of series this is not much beyond what you already know, but it is definitely worth a look simply because of the graphic upgrades and the new four player split-screen option. If this is not a reason to get a remastered version, I'm not sure what is. Just in case, though, remember you are getting two great games with an enormous amount of DLC. We're all hungry for more Borderlands, but until a new game comes along, Handsome Jack is happy to provide this quality interlude.
PlayStation Lifestyle - 9/10
The Handsome Collection is an easy recommendation for me to make to most gamers, especially if you haven't had a chance to play through either of the games available on it. Fans who have put in hundreds of hours into each title may find less new content to really keep them busy, but given that everything is in a neat little package, with upgraded visuals and a new four player split screen mode, it still makes this difficult to not recommend to any real fan of the series. While the remastering could have used a bit more work on some minor levels, The Handsome Collection is a fantastic time capsule with enough polish to let players revisit it again and again for years to come without it ever feeling completely dated.
IGN - 8.4/10
Minor quibbles aside, The Handsome Collection is a great package for any console-bound Borderlands fan. The fact that it collects every piece of DLC for both games, the majority of which is of very high quality, plus the fact that you can carry your last-gen saves and characters over, makes it a good pickup for returning fans and a great pickup for new ones.

Kinda stinks you can't buy each game separately digitally like metro redux. Oh well.
@WebHead I agree as i don't wanna play the second again
I think that first score should be 4.5/5, not 4.5/10
@AyeHaley Whoops! Thanks for the heads up, I've fixed that now!
Does the 4 player split screen really work? I've only played the original borderlands, but I remember 2 player split wasnt very easy to use. Ended up playing lan with a friend and that worked much better. I've played other games split screen and didn't find it to be a problem in those.
And my tv isn't small per se - it's 39 in.
@ztpayne7 4 Player Split screen (it seems) from reading a number of reviews, one area where the Frame Rate can drop drastically. I remember playing 4 player co-op on a 26" CRT TV for many many hours back in the day - most notably with Goldeneye on the N64. Nowadays I find trying to play split-screen on my 46" TV quite annoying - how times change....
I have no intention of playing this Split-screen anyway so it doesn't bother me. I have this on pre-order (XB1 though as my son will also be getting it and a lot of friends too) so should have it on Friday. I paid less than £37 (same price for PS4 if anyone is interested) at Gameseek...
I've been hyped for this since the first announcement. 2 Awesome games plus all the DLC in super smooth PS4ovison... take my money now!
Will get as soon as possible
@BAMozzy £37 for ps4 version too?..so tempted to buy it..but my son wants it as well so it's gonna be a ps store purchase that way we can share it between our ps4s..kinda saddens me buying mostly digital tho 😢
@teknium_ Yeah - £36.75 regardless of which console choice but obviously it would work out cheaper for you to buy it once digitally if that will enable you both to play at the same time
I skipped Borderlands 2 and the Pre-Sequel hoping this would be released.
I heard IGN say "split-screen is its only selling point". lol seriously IGN?
2 massive Borderlands games + more DLC than you can imagine for 49.99? count me in.
I don't know if I should get this or Bloodbourne. I have Borderlands 2 on PS3 but I haven't finished it yet due to a massive backlog spread across four consoles. Maybe I should just work on my backlog instead lol.
Nice to know it's a great port, hope I'll get it.
@WebHead Why moan? Lol it's £40 for all that loot!! Some gamers just are never happy!!
@Midzark
Perhaps some gamers would like that option and try half of it before going in fully?
Yay!! Have mine pre-ordered and Friday can come fast enough! Lol loving the scores!! Very happy to see Borderlands is still alive and well!! But I don't agree with a part of the last review though....
"plus the fact that you can carry your last-gen saves and characters over, makes it a good pickup for returning fans"
Because I was on xbox 360 and jumped over to PS4, so my over 150hrs save is now rubbish.... oO well start over haha 😝
