Well holy crap, I'm actually excited about this! I have to beat 1 & 2 HD on PS3 now before this hits! I was going to skip 3 since the series might get a new game in a different mythology with a new lead character, but now that this is happening, I might as well finish the Kratos series!

GOW3 still looks glorious on Ps3, will be interesting to see what improvements are made

Well, the PS4 has more remasters than original games I guess.

It baffles me why people get excited and support this dribble. Recently released single game is now undergoing the remaster treatment? You have to give MS credit with the entire Master Chief collection with 4 games being remastered all on the same disc at a reduced cost of a full retail game. Sounds like someone is trying to milk their community for some extra cash... Wait my mistake... Sony is for the players.

So after this, will we see a remaster of 1&2, then a remaster of the PSP games, then a remaster of Ascension and then a package with all of those together?

I think people are being overly dramatic this gen. Sony has only released one AAA remastered so far, the last of us and announced tearaway and gow3. Stop making such a fuss over this, if you want to play them again than do so and if not than leave it, theres many more games coming.

Microsoft on the other hand released 4 remasted, halo master chief collecion.

So is "Remastered" an official PS4 line yet like "Greatest Hits" on the PS2?

They should have had a sense of humor and called it God of War 3 U (U could stand for "updated")

@adf86 also sony has released/announced more new ips so soon in the first year alone; knack, Driveclub, bloodborne, the order, until dawn and many indie games.

While Microsoft haven't released a single new ip of their own. All of them are timed exclusive or either available on pc. And the ones they announced are sequels to their old ips halo 5, gears, forza, fable.

Depending on the price I would buy and play again it's been years since I finished it and I liked it much more than ascension.

Should have done 3 and ascension, it'll make god of war 3 look even more awesome in comparison.

Sony has only remastered TLOU and now God Of War. While Nintendo remasters games more than anyone and it's ok when they do it. And MS just had MCC and now their fans are begging for Gears and Alan Wake remastered. I guess it's only bad when Sony does it huh ?

@Dohv I think you will find that from the PS2 era onwards that Playstation has had significantly more "Collections, Remasters and Remakes" than Nintendo.
In fact, apart from console to handheld ports (which are received with just as much controversy), Nintendo vary rarely remasters games.

Brilliant game But can't see the point of this(well i guess it's cool for the non-PS3 owners who own a PS4 now & can play it) I don't buy games i have already got last Gen just because they are now in 1080p/60fps or whatever(so what) blah blah blah

@eLarkos Lmao just now. Nintendo has remastered almost every pokemon game. A lot of Zelda's and most of their games like Mario Kart, Smash Bros and Super Mario Bros can all be considered remastered. All they are is better graphics and a few new characters.

@Dohv To be clear, Im talking about games on the Playstation system, not necessarily developed by a Sony Studio. Anyway, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about when referencing Nintendo. I assume you have never actually played any of those games and if you are including all sequels as remasters then we are surely talking about significantly different things.

@get2sammyb There's five remasters. 1, 2, the PSP games slapped onto the PS3, and now this.
So literally only Ascension hasn't had a re-release, despite making far more sense than 3.

@sinalefa 2 of'em haven't released yet. My point was sony also released quite alot new ips so soon into the gen already and these remakes are just for the people who haven't played them yet or simply who wants to double dip ... Like i did with TLOU Remastered.

@tulaib_100 To be fair some of the games you listed haven't been relased too... Also, some of them had a disastrous release (DriveClub) or had lukewarm reception (Knack and The Order).
This generation, so far, haven't been great, but I think that MS and Nintendo are doing more in the software department while Sony has a killer marketing, which makes its system sell better.

@adf86 id have to disagree. I don't play halo for just the multiplayer. I actually got them when I had no internet fast enough to play. Halo 3 was my favorite in the series. Barley played multiplayer to be honest. Reason I bought the original games was for the plot! Lol must be one of the minority. never got an Xbox one. Only had 2 Microsoft consoles. Mostly played halo and left 4 dead before I got my PC. Mostly play my PS3 ps4 and vita and 3ds.

I am going to say this, its good for those who haven't played it, and if someone hasn't, then don't buy it.

It feels like the next gen doesn't have many new titles when they do somewhat. But the games aren't good as we hoped them to be. Like the order from what I heard. To much hype to work up to.
Plus the remasters and such or ports. GTA v, watch dogs, ac 4, etc can be found on ps3. Some are better on ps4 but some are better on ps3, like ac4 in my opinion. I think they need less ports and remasters if they barley change anything. If it has new features, weapons etc, then it'll be better than just a simple remaster or port.

As @get2sammyb said it'll add a photomode among other things in the game. And I'll bet all dlc will be in the game as well.

Its a bad trend if they do it wrong. Or are just being greedy. If they add enough incentive to get it, then its better than just a port or simple updated graphics now in 1080p game.

That's what I think at least.

@Alpha You're not in the minority, there's a lot of dedicated Halo fans who are into all the lore and story of it, and even the novels are supposed to be amazing. I never had the chance to get really into it, but I do want to and it is solely for the single player content.

Nope I'm a big Halo Lore guy, I own all the comics and the first set of books. I'm actually doing a redo of all the Halo content as a Lead up to Halo 4.

It sure seems that way. Some are no brainers (TLoU, GTA V and the inevitable Uncharted Collection were guaranteed money), some it's to try and bring the game to a new audience like Tearaway Unfolded and the rumored Gravity Rush. And then some seem pointless, like this one. Maybe I'll be wrong and it actually ends up selling very well but I don't remember this game being as well regarded as the first two were and while people are begging Sony for an Uncharted Collection there hasn't been any outcry for GoW 3 that I noticed.

Why does it matter how many remasters sony make's. At least sony comes up with newer games. At least PlayStation isn't like the xbox1 have to sit a wait for a different six months from now LOL. God of war is the best game ever made. God of war put sony on the map. God of deserves to be remaster ed and refine it has earn it. Don't complain about sony remastered we could be like the xbox fan's sitting around playing the newset release games over and over again like halo that game needs to die and no complains about the other recycle games like street fighter and mortal kombat for over 25 years same fighters same bs one complais about that. I'm sick of street fighting being recycle street fighter and mortal kombat back from 1982 and people complain about God of war remastered really go figure. You go sony your the best that's happen in the gaming world yesterday and today. I appropriate you alot keep the good work. I 'm your biggest fan ever since 1995 and never played another console but only sony.

I actually bought Master Chief for the single player campaigns, which is a good deal in and of itself. I know Halo is popular for its MP but that doesn't mean everyone only cares about MP and no one buys it for the campaigns. There's no denying the MP was (and is) a bungled mess, but with as much content as you're getting in single player the game is still worth three times what you're paying.

It's the platform as a whole. Sony's doing it when there have been a dozen other remasters in the same time frame, which collectively over saturates the platform. As for Nintendo, keep in mind they also release more games than anyone else in the industry, but even so I think there's one remaster on Wii U in the 2 years it's been out (Zelda Windwaker) and 4 for 3DS in the 4 years it's been out (StarFox 64, Zelda Ocarina and Majoras Mask, and Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire). And MS, I only count 1 (Master Chief) and the games, like Nintendo's, are several generations old. Unlike Sony's which has all been from PS3, and soon we can add Vita to that list as well.

Not to call out Sony but if you're going to accuse others of being worse, I think it's best to put the actual facts on the table and count them. So on a per year basis, Sony actually is releasing more remasters than either MS or Nintendo, and all of them have been relatively recent games. And with Tearaway and Gravity Rush on the way, that trend looks set to continue.

@JaxonH Is Gravity Rush even confirmed ? And for MS there is Halo collection, and then there's State Of Decay, and the inevitable Gears collection, and also Alan Wake remastered rumors.

A los there's still amazing games like Bloodborne, Persona 5, Until Dawn, Rime, and Uncharted 4 coming from Sony. So people need to stop acting like Sony remaster so many, when there's only 2. Plus Horzion from Guerrilla Games, Guerrilla Cambridge new game, Quantic Dreams new game, Media Molecule new game, Gran Turismo 7, and God Of War 4 is in the early stages of development.

But also to your point that Mario Kart "might as well be a remaster" that's not even remotely true. New courses, new stages, new modes, new characters- that's the very definition of a new game. A remaster would be taking Mario Kart Doule Dash from the Gamecube, sprucing up the graphics and calling it a day. Same courses, same characters, same everything, just "remastered". There's a huge difference. If your argument must pretend a long standing series is the same as a remaster just to make it seem like others release more, you don't have much of an argument. Jus sayin.

Most of us feel there's too many remasters on PS4. It's nothing to take personal, and it doesn't concern Nintendo or MS. It just is what it is. It doesn't mean we hate Sony, or that we're fanboys looking for reasons to knock them, it just means that there really are too many remasters on PS4.
