We can't stress that headline enough: don't let your DualShock 4 run out of battery while you're playing Helldivers. According to reports that Kotaku received, users who let their controller die, and then plug it back in, can have their Helldiver replaced by a level 1 character.
This apparently overwrites your progress, effectively resetting your character and unlock progress completely, if you get to a checkpoint without restarting the game.
Developer Arrowhead is aware of the particularly nasty bug, however, and has stated that a fix is coming in the title's next update. "Don't switch controllers if your battery is running low, just connect it to a cable, and wait until you are on the bridge and done with saving before switching to another controller," the studio advises.

Hilarious, I encountered a strange bug at the weekend, my system tried to download the destiny sharefactory dlc, my dualshock froze out and the ps4 kept flashing download error. I had to log in with a different dualshock and delete the download, I'm not sure I could have fixed it without a second dualshock as it was completely frozen out whenever I restarted the system, only button that worked was the dualshock power button to turn on the ps4 , then, it would freeze. Stupid.
Another excuse to wait before getting games. Guess now gamers are the new beta testers.
@BLPs It's not that, it's the fact that the game somehow thinks that the new controller is a new player - or at least, something along those lines.
@sinalefa It does seem more and more to be the case that we are part of the testing process...early access is a more blatant use of gamers being used in such a way...but I think that's more of a PC thing. I tend to wait a little while before I get a game so nasty bugs and glitches...and in some cases huge disappointments happen to others rather than me.
This game is awesome! The chaingun turrets are real life savers! Game is very similar to the movie Starship Troopers mixed with some Dawn of War. The only good bug is a dead bug!
How is this game by the way? I might get it eventually if it's worth it, and after they've fixed this little bug.
Absolutely love the game, however online is very buggy, my friends and I have stopped playing until the disconnect after completing a mission resulting in no xp for whoever disconnects is fixed. Happened to us 4 games in a row and after that my buddy was level 13, and I was level 9. It's not our Internet, it's the game. Sucks, but that's how things seem to be going nowadays. Because of these issues with online I've stopped pre-ordering games with a heavy multi-player component unless the developer has an open beta or 2.made an exception with helldivers because it's an indie.
Wow it's amazing what a controller can do
Only issue I've found with Helldivers so far is that the cross save (PS4/Vita) doesn't quite work.
Player level carries over just fine, but research points earned and spent don't seem to update properly.
Ahahhaha!
LOL
Helldivers is DOPE though!
I never say dope!
@JesWood13 the game is AWESOME! Buy it right now! Seriously.
