Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair, an enhanced re-release of the PlayStation 3's Earth Defense Force 2025, launches in just over a week in its native Japan, but we've got a new nine minute trailer to bolster your hype levels as we wait patiently for a Western release date.
As you can imagine, the chaotic shooter looks even more ridiculous on the PlayStation 4, where it's able to throw a lot more of everything onto the screen at once. The video that we've embedded showcases the title's additional missions, vehicles, and the visual madness that the new hardware allows. It's even got coffee adverts, as the whole thing's put across like a madcap news report.

@MadchesterManc Only sole reason you bought the Ps4 huh? And the moe! Dont forget the moe!
Instabuy, day one, two copies for my lady and I. We have played every EDF in the west and even imported EDF 2 Portable v2 for Vita in the Japanese two pack last Christmas. Love this series, pure video gaming bliss.
It's just an upgrade of 2025? I'd rather have a new game.
@Artie
But this game isn't coming to Europe, or am I wrong? Last thing I heard it was Japan only. That would be a shame though, I liked 2025, but it was plagued by some (understandable) technical issues.
Wish Sony's own localization team would pick these games up, give us English menus and subtitles and just publish it themselves. I believe there is a market for games like these and the people who are interested usually don't mind Japanese voice acting. Subtitles only would save so much money and time
Never played an EDF, I've just fallen for this sweetie.
