With so many games adopting different pricing models and release structures these days, it's becoming increasingly difficult to figure out a review strategy that makes sense. Resident Evil: Revelations 2 really takes the biscuit, though, launching on a disc in March – but also as part of four weekly episodes on the PlayStation Store from today. Some outlets have decided to report on those instalments individually, and you can peruse their thoughts below. How are we handling it? Honestly, we're still not sure – but stay tuned for something later this week.
Destructoid - 9/10
Resident Evil: Revelations 2 feels like a budgeted release at times visually, but given the interesting environments and insanely detailed Raid Mode, that's okay. Either mode is worth the $5 entry fee alone, and I will be playing this for weeks to come both alone and with a partner.
God Is a Geek - 8.5/10
With the recent success of Resident Evil HD, and now Revelations 2 starting so well, it seems Capcom finally have Resi back on the right track. Despite a few concerns, Revelations 2: Episode One is a triumph. Exciting, daft, and containing a few genuine jump scares. What more could you ask for from Resident Evil?
GameSpot - 7/10
Though you have to wade through mediocre puzzles and endure cringe-worthy dialogue and references to past games, episode one successfully entices you to look forward to the next episode. Just before you feel like its antics are wearing you down, it commands your attention by redeeming itself during the second half, just before sealing the deal with an impactful cliffhanger. With tastes of both classic and modern Resident Evil, Revelations 2 has something for everyone, but it would be served better if it was a little more focused and had a little less Moira.
IGN - 7/10
Revelations 2: Episode 1 is let down by dull environments and creature design, but a terrific co-op mode, intriguing story, and replayable Raid Mode balances out its flaws. Not quite a headshot, then; but it's left a bloody impression on me nonetheless.
The reviews are out, then, but have they convinced you to give Resident Evil: Revelations 2 a go? Mix some herbs in the comments section below.

Im really liking it
Loved Revelations 1 as i thought it was the best RE game since RE3, and this is just right up that alley !
Cant wait to finish the campaing to play Raid Mode !
It looks like this is going to be better than expected, which is a pleasant surprise. I do love me some Resident Evil.
I'm still holding out for physical & a price drop I think but the idea of a mission based merc mode does sound promising, I might go back and finally play the two RE: Games I've never played (2 and CV) to pass time while I wait for this..
Revelations holds for me the title of being the only game I have purchased twice and never played it beyond the demo.
But if this has splitscreen campaign like RE 5 and 6 then I will buy the disc version when it hits. Don't care about the "bayness" of the story, just want to kill zombies with my bro in couch co op.
I already Pre-order the Vita version cause it's coming to Retails and physically in The Middle East and Asia by Capcom
Waiting for retail.
It's a lot of fun, but i and other players are mentioning a freezing issue when loading into raid mode after a few missions.
Loved Revelations on 3DS. Beat the game once then did a complete other play through in RAID mode with my brother. Got this pre ordered on PS4, since the Vita version is MIA, which probably means it's not getting a physical release. I should've known.
I hope the good will carries on. Sadly we all know what Capcom are like and it wouldn't be surprise to see the scores and good feelings go down with each further release. Hopefully this can be a turning point for them.
@Jonny Wow I envy the fact your about to experience them 2! Amazing games
I went ahead and pre-ordered this last Sunday. At first I was gonna wait for the Vita version, but nah. I absolutely LOVED the first Revelations on 3DS and beat it 3 times. The raid mode was awesome as well.
Finished the first episode took me about 2 hours but didnt find all the tokens and stuff, it was great ! good mix of survival/horror and action, now looking forward for Raid mode
Pretty much 100% Rev1 (S rank on all missions and even finshed a knife only run), and planing to do the same with Rev2
Downloading as I type. Look's pretty cool, I've spent a fortune lateley on games an extra £20 on a soilid game is great quality for money! About damn time lol. I remember playing Resi Evil 1 on release, this will be fun
Raid mode its awesome !
I trust Destructoid on this, I'm definitely trying at least episode 1. whats 5 euros anyway? I could deploy a turd more expensive than that.
I think I'll wait for the final version. Does anyone know if this supports cross-buy?
Really enjoyed the first game on my 3DS, and probably spent close to 50 hours playing Raid Mode. That thing was addicting!!
I got the PC version, partly to play with a buddy, but mostly to get the inevitable face mod for Claire. Aesthetics aside, she looks nothing like her brother or how she looked before!
Edit: and headshot mods. So...you can't blow people's heads off anymore?
So none of the reviews discuss how bad are the microtransactions. As a big fan of revelations 1 raid mode my main concern is wheter microtransactions will ruin the experience
If the complaints are only about crummy graphics I'll be happy.
I will be waiting for the full physical release but glad to hear people are liking what they have played so far, I personally thought that the original revelations was a return to form for the series.
Man, please release a demo....
It's a bit tempting to pay episode one just to 'try' it.
anyway, I forgot to check but let me ask directly here: Can it cross platform for co-op online?
