Disco Dodgeball PS4 PlayStation 4

You'd need to look back to the halcyon days of the PSone to find a good dodgeball game, but fortunately the genre could be about to rebound courtesy of the elaborately named Robot Roller Derby: Disco Dodgeball. Currently tearing up the charts on Steam – where it's the number one rated multiplayer title on Valve's storefront – the indie hit could be a stone's throw away from the PlayStation 4.

That's according to sole creator Erik Asmussen, who told us in the wake of the final version's launch yesterday that he's "strongly considering a PS4 port for the future", even if he has no immediate plans right now. "I grew up playing local multiplayer games," he said, "so I think that Disco Dodgeball would be a blast playing on your couch with friends." Subsequently, he added that bringing the release to consoles is "a big personal goal of mine".

For those out of the loop, the game's described as a "projectile-based sports first-person shooter, where you race around a dance club in jet-powered robots, launch off skate park ramps, and nail each other with exploding glow-in-the-dark dodgeballs". What's not to love? The final version also includes a single player campaign, as well as tons of different modes and options. It's easy to see why it's already proven a hit with Early Access supporters.

Personally, we reckon that this is a perfect fit for the PS4, so we sincerely hope that Sony's indie curators are knocking at Erik's door as we type. And if they're not, maybe they should check out the trailer embedded below.
