The great PSN outage of Christmas 2014 may now be a distant memory, but we're hearing reports that the network is currently being a bit naughty for some unlucky users.
After running a few tests, we can confirm that everything's working on our end, including the store, friends list, and the PS4's what's new section, but nevertheless, the official PlayStation Twitter account says that the company is aware of the problem, and, of course, "engineers are on the case and investigating".
We'd dare to guess that the service is still under heavy strain – especially since millions of new users will have signed into the network over the past couple of months or so – so if you're unable to connect right now, try not to worry too much.

I don think it will be a "distant memory" until after people get their 5 PS+ days and 10% off codes which Sony offered last week but haven't delivered yet. I know they said sometime later in January so I don't mean to rush them, only that it will be hard for something to be a distant memory while people all still waiting for what they feel like is their apology for the shutdown from Sony.
I think this is going to be a forward thing from sony this year, does make me have to ask where our £39.99 yearly subscription is going?!...........
I've got zero problems here. This must be a very limited issue, 'cos I haven't seen many complaints online either.

Not here. Just downloaded inFamous and the Swapper is going great guns!
Yeah it's so annoying to see this again,kinda random either connect or disconnect.
I was unable to sign in yesterday. I was hoping to download and play Ducktales but I ended up having to watch tv instead.
No problems here in Northern California.
I had connection problems last night on my Vita, but it's working fine today.
No problems for me today(UK) & i used my PS4 & PS3 & PSVita today(i know a bit excessive)
@get2sammyb I doubt it. All my friends reported the same issue for several hours.
Swapped my ps3 harddrive out for something bigger, have a lot of dlc and junk to redownload, get an error every 5 or so downloads and have to retry, annoying but redownloading 7 years worth of content was going to be a pain either way, next I'll be patching games I guess.
I've had no problems. Network issues can be tough sometimes, we have 2 servers at work and struggle keeping them going and working correctly without downtime occasionally. Can't imagine what administrating thousands is like. Especially with about 110 million devices trying to connect to it.
PSN on PS4 is working better than ever for me. My messages send at lightning speed now and all of the time. The only slight issue is the friends list taking a few seconds to load at peak time, but thats hardly an issue really. Im in the UK and usually game between 5pm and 10pm.
