Geometry Wars 3 PS4

After last week’s deluge of tasty titles, you could be forgiven for thinking that this week’s roster of PlayStation releases may be a little thin on the ground – but it’s surprisingly stacked for the days prior to Thanksgiving. Granted, there are no major blockbusters vying for your attention here, but we reckon that the likes of Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions and Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed are more than worthy of your attention for a moment or two. Let’s get down to business.

Pick of the Week: Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions

The poster child of the Xbox Live Arcade, we were made to feel like peasants for not having access to Geometry Wars on the PlayStation 3. To be honest, we always thought that Super Stardust HD was the better of the two dual joystick shooters, but that doesn’t mean that we’re not excited about Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions making its way to Sony’s systems this week – even if it does appear to have taken a little inspiration from Housemarque’s aforementioned intergalactic smash.

With series creator Bizarre Creations sadly now defunct, British startup Lucid Games has been tasked with reviving the brand. And it’s opted to do that by placing the action on three-dimensional battlegrounds, all while retaining the electrifying entertainment of the original. A complete single player campaign will be complemented by four-player local and eight-player online multiplayer, while there’ll be PlayStation exclusive levels based upon the DualShock’s iconic face buttons.
