It's getting to the point where we can't blame people for saying that there are too many Warriors titles flooding the market. 2014 itself has had an abundance of the things, and now, just when things appeared to be quiet after the release of the superb Samurai Warriors 4, publisher Koei Tecmo has gone ahead and announced that tactically tinged spin-off Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires is marching onto the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 in January 2015.
To be more precise, it's heading to Europe on the 30th January, while North America gets it on the 27th. Sure, it seems like a while away, but it's crazy to think that we'll be diving into yet another musou release almost as soon as we're done with our stint of Christmas holiday gaming. Unfortunately, though, it looks like this is one Warriors title that won't invade the Vita.
The Empires series itself sees you take on a specific role within an army — fictional or historical — and carving your own path through the chaos of feudal China. You can become a ruler, a highly ranked officer, or even a wandering warrior, befriending and, if you're in the mood, marrying characters from the franchise along the way. Of course, you'll also be able to craft your own custom character to take onto the battlefield for that personal touch.

What exactly is that "tactical" take on things, how do I have to imagine it? Is it still realtime? Is it first person? I usually like all things tactical!
@Scollurio It's basically Dynasty Warriors only battles are somewhat randomised and there's a much bigger emphasis on capturing bases and working your way across a map.
You also have the ability to use strategies: you can block up a path with fallen rocks or set fire to a base. Again, it's still very much Dynasty Warriors, but you're basically given more options and control on the battlefield.
@ShogunRok - Thank you for the inclusive title.
Doesn't DQ:H launch early next year as well, or is that still Japan only at this point? I know they're not the same but they seem very similar.
Can't wait for this game..... I love the DW massive "ignorant" carnage, and this is gonna add a taste of Total War/rpg in it.....
Also any news about the 100years war spin-off?
@arnoldlayne83 The remastered Bladestorm has been announced for release in Q1 2015 on Ps3, Ps4 & XboxOne a few weeks ago. No firm date just yet though
@MadchesterManc Thanks very much! I am very curious to try it, looks even more tactical than empire series....
Wth, a new Warriors game every season
@arnoldlayne83 It's definitely more tactical than Empires. Battles are played out with you controlling a squad instead of a single officer for skirmishes ie a group of archers or swordsmen for example, and you in turn gain XP in the different roles to customise (you can switch to a different squad on the fly during battle to mix things up) If anything it plays like Kessen 3 on Ps2 if you've ever played that. You may be able to find a copy of the original Bladestorm release on Ps3 for a relatively cheap price if you want to give it a go before the remaster hits with the added 'Nightmare' campaign.
@MadchesterManc wow well thanks for the info.... you confirmed the impressions I had by watching the gameplay.... I guess I will get it.... being a fan of DW and Total war series, I guess this is the closest we will get on ps4.
Dang, that's soon. I'm not sure if I'll get day-one this soon after Samurai Warriors 4 (which is great) or not now. I'll definitely get it one day though. This and SW games where you play as your own chatacter are the Warriors games I like to get. I also really enjoyed DW6: Empires.
This is getting a physical release in NA right?

@Jaz007 No confirmation yet, but I imagine it will, at least on PS4.
