Evergreen sandbox adventure Minecraft was expected to come out this month on the PlayStation 4, but earlier today, the studio in charge of porting the smash hit announced on Twitter that the game had failed quality testing.
"Sony found some issues we have to fix in their final test of Minecraft PS4," 4J Studios wrote, before reassuring fans that the release is still on the cards, stating that "we're fixing, but we need to go through the process again." Unfortunately, this means that it'll probably be at least a couple of weeks before we finally see Minecraft dig its way onto Sony's newest console. Will you be waiting patiently in your makeshift hut for the release, or have you already had your fill on PS3? Build your rage in the comments section below.

That means quality is doing its job, which is good
@Sevein Yep, definitely better to wait a bit longer for a stable game, rather than ending up with something that's broken.
@ShogunRok Yeah and I hate waiting for patches.
I'm sure this will get fast tracked when it goes back into certification anyway.
either way, at least we will get a good product in the end.
I am actually more worried bout the Vita version, and the lack of promotion thereof from Sony. Minecraft will beautifully translate to Vita and I had hoped for some cheap bundles. Kids would pick it up, play some minecraft and eventually they might give other games a try.... That's when we hook em and reel em in. If I look at the next generation of "gamers", I'm truly worried about where we're heading. Although I like Minecraft for what it is, I don't want it to be the new Zelda or Mario which defined the generations to come. Sure, free roaming and crafting poop is fun and all, but I hope those minecraft kids will play Persona, Lumines, Dragon's Crown, Muramasa, Soul Sacrifice, Marvel vs Capcom etc etc so these genres will live on and will still give me clear in-game goals and objectives when I'm old; a world with games without a story, without objectives and without some skill requirement is a world where I don't wanna live in
It better be soon as Destiny will be out in a little ove 3 weeks and that will have my full attention. Then we have Driveclub and Alien Isolation due in October and Far Cry 4, COD AW and Assassin's Creed Unity to follow the month after that. Minecraft would have been great a few months ago as I would have had plenty of spare time to play it due to the lack of next gen games. If it doesn't release this month I doubt I'll get it untill next summers dry period.
@Boerewors The Vita version has actually appeared in a TV ad in the UK, so they are promoting it a bit.
I hate to sound like an old fart (which I am), but "back in my day" developers FINISHED a game before putting in on a cartridge or disc & releasing it. None of this day 1 patch b.s. because they had no choice.......no internet.
Glad to see Sony is maybe taking a step to putting a stop to this nonsense.
My anger went toward 4J, what with them delaying a supposed launch title by 10 months, only to have it fail certification. I am really grateful that Sony is making sure the game is good enough for release rather than push a buggy game out. Where was this with Battlefield 4?
I am more afraid of minecraft for vita because this might push them longer than September
What a Blooper
I need this in my life ASAP. I tried it out a bit and it looks great on the ps4.
No ones waiting
@get2sammyb
I'm your typical gamer: complaining about how they don't advertise stuff, but when you're told otherwise you realize you actually never watch tv
@Godsire- yeah the quality at release has definitely been getting worse and worse, in some cases to the point where it's barely playable It's seems to be especially bad with games from big publishers because the developers are often not given enough time to finish it, because I think every developer genuinely wants to deliver a well polished product.
Games that are very likely to have a lot of bugs (skyrim, battlefield etc.) I just pick up a couple of months after release so I know the worst of it will be patched. But that's still something I shouldn't have to do
EA obviously missed that memo about quality.
Also this isnt that much of a loss, at least not for me.
@Godsire- And plenty of glitches/bugs were never rectified in all those old school games which is why so many speedrun them.
@Godsire- you must be remebering though rose tinted glasses. Games back in the day were just as broken only there was usually less of the game to break (games were simpler) and there was no recourse for broken games after release. I can't honestly think of a game without a bunch of bugs in it from (and including) Super Mario brothers NES onwards. Hell one of the reasons that E.T. was such a failure was because of a few game breaking bugs (like the collision rectangle) which someone fixed a few years ago lol. No, games were just as bad then as they are now, only they have a lot more stuff now, and a bigger audience, so its more noticeable.
Since nobody else mentioned it, how the heck can they mess up Minecraft? Its been out for 4 years on PC, a year or 2 on 360, nealy a year on PS3. Its Minecraft, break blocks, build blocks, 8 months late and they couldn't get that right? Are they having lip syncing issues with Steve?
Big disappointment for me. I love Minecraft and have been wanting to play this "launch" title it on my PS4 since I bought it. The constant delays and then a poor submission? Are you telling me that Sony could find an issue that 4J didn't find in their internal quality control, or did they try to sneak it by figuring they would patch the game later? Very disappointing, and now it should come out close to the Destiny release. This is going to hurt Minecraft sales.
@McSterls I would say its probably the latter. When you have deadlines you are often forced to push ahead even when the product isn't ready. Since the developers likely test it much more than Sony does, maybe they figured Sony wouldn't find a certain issue, or maybe it just doesn't comply with some conformance standard.
